Why is it so hard?

I've had my latest story on hold for nearly a month now, and the question running through my head is: Why is it so hard to write something?

I guess one reason would be because you have to keep the readers interests somewhere in mind, even if its in the very back where you only look at it once in a while. Going Editorial!

As the dust cleared, it was obvious to me as an imbedded journalist on the scene that something had gone horribly wrong. Two local policemen had tasered an obviously distraught female who was simply trying to get to the sight of her friend's car accident.

Okay, so let me start with an example: A Christmas Carol. Does that book capture the setting and lifestyle simply because it was based in the time it was written? One thing every writer hates...

...Writer's block. I'm sure if there was a cure I'd stock up on it, 'coz I'm terrible at not being sure what to put next. Then again, if nobody every had writer's block, books would be published left and right. Right? I guess one of the best things to do is to put my current work on hold and work on my fanfiction (oh, how I love fanfiction). Or, simply write a short story. A bit about myself...

Since there doesn't seem to be a lengthy place to put up author bios or such (or I'm missing it), a bit about myself:

I live in a small town in Southern Ontario, Canada and have been writing mainly for my own amusement (and partially my friends' amusement) since I was about 10. This means I have in and around a decade of writing experience under my belt...so to speak.

New Surroundings, New Ideas

Recently my family dragged me back in the U.K. Not that I'm complaining, but I was finally getting used to America. Now that I'm in Glasgow, maybe ideas will start flowing for my new story. Immigration Reform

I will continue to criticize Arizona's new xenophobic immigration law. Immigration is a complex issue, but it's also a federal responsibility and when you start mentioning states rights it can bring up some rather ugly memories of Jim Crow laws. The borders do need to be secure, but at the same time immigration reform is needed.

Writing Styles for a comedy novel
