Whatever happened to Zink?

I remember this one book that I read in the third grade. It wasn't required reading, just one of my "reading for fun" things. The book was called Zink, and it was about this girl named Becky (I…Continue

Why is it so hard?

Posted on June 15, 2010 at 11:38pm 1 Comment

I've had my latest story on hold for nearly a month now, and the question running through my head is: Why is it so hard to write something?

I guess one reason would be because you have to keep the readers interests somewhere in mind, even if its in the very back where you only look at it once in a while. Sure you wanna write about what you want though, but think about it. There's probably at least fifteen out of 100 writers who added something they didn't want to simply because it would… Continue

Is it too late?

Okay, so let me start with an example: A Christmas Carol. Does that book capture the setting and lifestyle simply because it was based in the time it was written? If Charles Dickens had lived in the twenty-first century, and had written the famous book, would it have been as successful? I mean, if you think about it, some of the best books based in the Victorian era were written during that time. The same goes for other famous literary works. But if you… Continue

One thing every writer hates...

...Writer's block. I'm sure if there was a cure I'd stock up on it, 'coz I'm terrible at not being sure what to put next. Then again, if nobody every had writer's block, books would be published left and right. Right? I guess one of the best things to do is to put my current work on hold and work on my fanfiction (oh, how I love fanfiction). Or, simply write a short story. Nothing long and dramatic, just something to get the thoughts flowing again.

Seriously, though, am I the only one who… Continue

New Surroundings, New Ideas

Posted on May 15, 2010 at 1:33am 6 Comments

Recently my family dragged me back in the U.K. Not that I'm complaining, but I was finally getting used to America. Now that I'm in Glasgow, maybe ideas will start flowing for my new story. I'm still working on the title, because to me, that is the most important part. You know, something that catches the attention.

I've also made a couple of changes to the story I told you about earlier. Firstly, Todd's name was changed to Maksim (the Russian form of Maximilian). Not that there was… Continue

Lora, and there was me thinking you wanted to be a woman of mystery. Admitting you don't like your picture taken ruins the mystique! ;)

Good to hear that you're getting settled in okay, Lora. That must be a very big change for you. How are you finding school there compared to America?
