Consider this; you have just finished your first book, you are so proud of your achievements and luckily you have found a small publisher to publish your work. Your’e excited and this is understandable and soon your excitement breeds a new dream. You dream that you will buy a new house with the proceeds that you will make, or perhaps a new car. You believe that when your book comes out, you will be rolling in the money, no more financial concerns, and you can pay your medical bills that have…

A soft thud in the night. A creak in the hallway outside your bedroom. A lonely road cutting through a dark forest. All of these can cause fear. However, fear need not be felt in these creepy, eerie locations. One can experience fear when going in for a job interview, on the first day of college, or even writing your first novel. We fear the unknown. What made the thud upstairs? The creak in the hall–just the house settling or something else? What if the car stalled on the road? You wonder…

I am lost in pages.
Words leading me a fool.
Each paragraph loses me as the sentences come together
None really making any sense.
Jumping from idea to idea
none commiting
always failing
dieing
or losing grasp from my hands.
Stories lost like legends
but these are never finished
nor will they be ever heard of again.
My sword weakens as it scraps against paper
scratching and scraping for anything to…

In an informal survey of third graders, Trouble in the Bubbles is noted as the most liked and requested of all of my stories. It is quite popular with those "in the know".

Living in the Moment I walked along the small wooden bridge that weaved its way through a thicket of trees. The lamps that bordered the outside lit everything just enough so I could see where I was going. The sun had just gone down and the sky was as clear as ever. I didn't bother to bring a notebook or anything. I didn't feel like writing. All I really wanted to do was relax. The sky was so clear and the stars seemed so big that when I looked out my window after dinner I got tempted into…

Sometimes, things are not as good as you expect. Sometimes, the truth hurts. Sometimes, you are not perfect. And you have to write about it. These three strategies will help you write about bad, or embarrassing, information in a way that makes the bad information sound better than it is. You need to tell the truth; that's a given. But you can tell it in a way that produces a positive, or less, bad reaction from your reader.
Day 146: Put a positive spin on negative…

Human nature of indifference,
No sympathy no benevolence;
Greatest curse in this creation,
One's death another vacation;
Someone's full other is empty,
One has none other has plenty?
While one dies new one is born,
Like dusk brings a novel…

For the entire month of February, I’m running a review campaign. For each review of “The Seventh Soul” on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Good Reads, $1.00 will be donated to the Great Plains Food Bank. The following is from the Great Plains Food Bank website, describing what the program does in its campaign against hunger:
"The Great Plains Food Bank strives for a hunger-free North Dakota and western Minnesota by recovering surplus food and…
