anna your a star, to help someone like that and warn them of a potential problem, is a good thing, I just wish someone had warned me about the children's literary agency, but you live and learn, well done hun and Bryan I hope you get things sorted

has anybody heard of or had any experience with a website called, www.firstwriters.com?  they ask you for a subscription and then give you access to publishers and agency's, as S.A.E are not an option for me, this seems like a good way for me to submit my manuscript for consideration, any feed back would be greatly appreciated, thanks

As with many websites the choice is your choice. I've heard of them. Nothing wrong. The have many members, all trying for the same thing, publishing the first time story ,poem article or novel. I've decided people can learn more from the failed attempts than from the successful ones. To save your money is one thing so instead of firstwriter why not check out AuthorAdvance? It is free.One plus surely. Two it contains  comprehensive database for YOU to use free. There is a racking sstem and updates on the success rte of submissions. genre. That's covered too. In your particular case I suggest you stick to e-mail submissions, written or hard copy queries do not get read, opened, replied to or even rejected. There are exceptions but that then proves the rule. Save ourself time b knowing there is no longer a slush heap.All is on screen.Chilling thought that all can be deleted at a single click. Never saw your manuscript. Sorry. Send by e-mail again. And so it goes on. That's amounts to a lot of waiting time.

To sum up do something different. If you have one chance of catching my eye if I was an agent or publisher surely you'd do your best with your manuscript.

I look for real solutions. I too have a manuscript which I'm editing myself before passing on to my selected editor.

Thanks Anna! Been reading some posts, great job warning Bryan of the pitfalls with PublishAmerica. I was offered a contract from them too which sounded too goo to be true but lucky for me I have a great business agent who likes to do research ;0) Needless to say I didn't sign with them and moved on to bigger and better things
