Profit vs Popularity vs Promotion

Recently a discussion came about concerning what was most important to authors. Is it creating a highly profitable sales base? Or is it to become so well known you become a daily household name? Or is it simply to see your works so well promoted in a cost efficient manner that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy your work?  For me personally its become more of a promotional thing. All my books are currently sold through my website at basically the cost of printing, shipping to me, and…See More

Hi everyone. My full name is William O'Neil but I go by W.J. O'Neil more often than not. I'm a father to 5 and a grandfather to 9 (with yet another on the way!) I've been making up and telling stories to my kids for about 20 years now. About 5 yrs ago my wife (Mary) & the kids coaxed me (more like hounded) into putting one of them into print. In order to keep the kids out of a swampy area by the house I told them about what was in it. I've spent the last few years writing "Reeshard and The… Continue

W.J., Welcome aboard authors.com, …from The Chuck!
I write thrilling sci-fi novels filled with adventure, mystery, romance, drama, horror, comedy, and many more genres mixed in...  Sci-fi for everyone to enjoy. I'm also a published poet. When you have a moment, please check out my Authors page along with some of my many videos and blogs... Many of my Blogs include my free to read, short sci-fi fantasy stories for everyone to enjoy.

Yeah, I totally agree with you. There could be anything living in nasty swampy areas. My swamps generally contain strange aliens from faraway  planets, and sometimes I call my brain a swampy area.

Let me know if you'd like to become friends.
