I belong to Absolutewrite, and it's the premiere writing site for me what has all the answers and questions. It's just a great place to hang with other spec writers.

April, do give up if you get rejections. It's hard to land an agent. I have decided I will give it a while longer and then start sending my work directly to the publishers, not self publishers.

My limited understanding is that you can do that if you write teen or YA. I read it some where. The source seemed reliable to me which is why I remembered it - crazy way my brain files things ;)

K L  Parry, Not sure what you are saying here.  Are you talking about contacting agents???

Comment by K. L. Parry on August 12, 2013 at 9:41am

I'm talking about contacting Publishers directly.

I have just sent it off to some agents and pubblishers that accept unsolisitated work hopefully someone will say yes.
I hope someone says yes to your book soon Allen and don't forget it can take up to as little as six weeks to six months for a reply going what I am reading best of luck to us all
Comment by April Hollingworth on August 12, 2013 at 2:14pm

Publishers specify if they take unsolicited authors or not. Most will only take on authors who have an agent but there is some who don't. Best to read all there guidelines before sending off to them best of luck to everyone :-)
