Perseverance

Perseverance Many moons ago I attended a taekwondo tournament in the Minneapolis area. I was either a Second or a Third Degree Black Belt at the time and my competition consisted of some excellent martial artists. In the sparring competition, I faced a gentleman who, within a minute, executed a spin hook kick to my head. My hands were not up as far as they should have been and I was not fast enough to block in…

SUCCESS DOESN'T SLEEP-One Woman's Plan To Beat The Odds

As I prep and get ready mentally for my book launch in November. I am humbled at all of the support I have received from colleagues, friends, family and general consumers. When you decide to launch a book that tells your true life twists and turns, you have to be ready and receptive for the feed back, good or bad. My book focus is about my personal story of overcoming broken homes, abusive bosses, injurious relationships and financial hardship to build my own successful staffing business and…

My Latest Book

This seems to be the place for shameless self promotion.

My third book is available  here on amazon

Kindle and paperback.

"When the Fraud Hit the Fan" is a PI story that starts with a little nothing case and grows into some serious craziness.

Enjoy. …

NEW DEVOTIONAL BOOK "SHH! GOD IS TRYING TO TELL YOU SOMETHING"

God still speaks to us.  Often it is a quiet whisper, a gentle nudge, a hunch we seem to have. As we look back at our journeys, we notice the places where the Lord has spoken to us, guiding us and encouraging us to press on.  Maybe we haven’t always listened to that “Still Small Voice,” but He has been there the whole time, speaking words of encouragement to…

Adult Truth #16

#16I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.”

I don't frequent bars. I'm not a beer drinker. Now, this isn't to say I haven't imbibed and if you ask the right friends, they'll tell you tales of times when I've, uh, well...let's just say I overindulged a bit. However, this brings up an…

Chapters - III

C03On my holiday to Goa in India, I was disgusted to find that almost every restaurant served curry. I don't like spicy food.”

Well, then bring along some Fritos.

***

Last time I talked about my basic day-to-day schedule, but my eating schedule has also changed since the move. I've been trying (somewhat successfully) to be more aware of what I eat. Trying to cut back on the carbs and…

READING BETWEEN THE LINES

I heard a quote the other day stating that fiction is more “real” than non-fiction because, in writing fiction, it's easier to tell the truth.

Think about it. If you're writing non-fiction, you have to stick to the facts. There's no way a writer can go inside the mind of the subject and detail how decisions are made. Only actions and consequences are recorded. One can surmise, conjecture, and deliberate, but will never really know the…

Granny Cures

I often wonder how many of us would be here today if we had been born in the 19th century.  I, for one, would not have been so fortunate.  I had a rough start:  I contracted pneumonia at four weeks old and had to be placed under an oxygen tent.  I doubt I could have survived a bout with such a serious illness with no antibiotics.  In addition to that, I had to give birth by C-section.  I know that my daughter would not have survived a natural birth in the 1800's, and…

Maiden Voyage

I am not a blogger, but it is important to market what I enjoy....writing fiction!

I'm a Middle School United States History teacher, having taught since 1991.  My hobbies include traveling, antiques, music, Civil War reenacting/speaking to events as Mrs. Stonewall Jackson.

My loves are my hubby, children, and precious grandchildren.  To them, I am Mammy. :)

Talking About Curses and The Evil Eye

My life has definitely been blessed, but there are days when nothing seems to go right. Like a superstitious peasant woman out of the Middle Ages, I start counting since, as we all know, bad things come in threes. I twist an…

MANscapes by Manuela Cardiga

MANscapes is a powerful parable of hope and renewal, a story of one woman's discovery of herself and her journey into love.

MANscapes by Manuela Cardiga

" All women - from the most exquisite beauty to the plainest drab - want to believe in the Cinderella myth. Even the harsh-faced and sour-hearted, somewhere deep in their night-time struggles with their bitterest reality, dare to dream some Prince could still see past the dense veil of unkind nature and time, to the… Continue
