NOW THAT IT'S FINALLY FINISHED. . .

I’ve finished my fourth novel, MURDER IN CYPRUS HOLLOW, and it’s available for purchase. Ah, now for basking in the warm glow of achievement. I puff a sigh of relief, get comfy on my laurels, and then set my sights on the next book.  Right?

Wrong! Not happening, partner. For some reason only the sun, moon and stars know, I can’t. Once again I seem…

Authors of One Interviews: Don Lubov

I had the opportunity to get to know Don Lubov a little better. The tenth author in the One series is a man of measured words. I think you will find his answers concise, to the point and entertaining.
Don Lubov, a Zen spiritualist and teacher, is the author of Story Ten: 1971. Get it here for ONLY 99 Cents (and remember, a portion of the author’s proceeds go to charity) – …

How To Use Today’s Technology To Benefit Your Writing Career

I’m part of a generation who had to actually wait at home by the phone if I was expecting a call. Worse than that, if I sent a query to an agent, I had to wait weeks, even months, for a response by snail-mail. What torture. If I had been a nail biter back then, I’d have worked my way to my knuckles in not time.

I love that today I can sit at my computer in South…

Let’s see. We have Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, MySpace, etc., etc., etc.
We have so many ways to reach out to the world and tell them about our books. So, how do we take advantage of these outlets for success?

DON'T FORGET THE ANGST

When was the last time you cried or laughed aloud while reading a book? Do you remember why the story affected you so? Let's discuss what it takes as a writer to create fiction that will make our readers laugh or cry.

Is it the story? The answer to that is yes and no, for a story alone has no power to make the reader's emotions erupt. Yet a bad story can ruin everything. Most importantly, for emotions to come to the surface, the reader has to have people to care about. Real…

Sometimes you have to say goodbye...

to something you're writing. Tell me if this sounds familiar:

You've had ideas floating around your mind for days—you set up the place you're going to work in, grab a cup of coffee, turn off your cell phone, and begin writing, pouring out all of the images, words, catchy phrases, and greatness you're thinking you've just given birth to. You spend hours, maybe even days, on…

Ten Commandments for a Happy Writing Life

So, I'm reading The Pocket Muse by Monica Wood as (you guessed it) inspiration for a writing course I am developing. As a writer myself, I found this list interesting, but rather than just post it, I wanted to add my 2 cents, just because. I hope you find both the list and my comments useful!…

Introspection II (The Chrome Lake part 5)

(« Introspection II » by Christopher Stewart)

« Introspection II » is the fifth section, and second with vocals, of « The Chrome Lake. »

The chapter is an almost-but-not-identical twin to « Introspection I. » And again, the subject matter is pretty much self-explanatory.

Here are the lyrics :

I see you feel restrained,…

The Seance : Not Really Good, But Not Bad Either

The Seance : Not Really Good, But Not Bad Either.

The Séance By Heather Graham

This is more of a random book thrown into mix. Like the reviews aren’t random enough. This one is a supernatural mystery called, “The Séance” by Heather Graham apparently is a New York Time best seller auditor, who seems to be unknown by myself and everyone I know. This one I grabbed out of a free box at a yard sale. It had water damage, a torn cover and smelled like perfume. But regardless of its…

" I Tried to Get Those Jeans"-Intro

Almost at some point in life we are working so hard at a specific goal, rather it's a house, car, career or that handsome man. In my case, I was in college I had a class with a young man who was six feet two inches, wide shoulders, muscular shape of a body builder, with a face that make a baby smile with joy. "Yes, could I make him mine? I can do this!  Those jeans must be mine."

My Memoir, Fine...ly: My Story of Hope, Love, and Destiny

"Fine..ly" is a compelling, impactful story about hope and love that builds brick by brick from the bottom up, and then screams victory from the roof-top. The story is a touching, honest, and insightful account of the author's rollercoaster ride through life, beginning with her 1958 Baltimore birth, and…
