I seriously wanted to chunk a twilight book at the workers and scream, "Why the hell do you have this crap and not the awesomeness of Kelly Armstrong's The Reckoning!!????!"

.....Yea a little anger issue right there, but I decided… Continue

Why is it so hard?

I've had my latest story on hold for nearly a month now, and the question running through my head is: Why is it so hard to write something?

I guess one reason would be because you have to keep the readers interests somewhere in mind, even if its in the very back where you only look at it once in a while. Sure you wanna write about what you want though, but think about it. There's probably at least fifteen out of 100 writers who added something they didn't want to simply because it would… Continue

Going Editorial!

Podunk, VA

Madmarco, reporting.

As the dust cleared, it was obvious to me as an imbedded journalist on the scene that something had gone horribly wrong. Two local policemen had tasered an obviously distraught female who was simply trying to get to the sight of her friend's car accident.

This reporter noted that the police on scene were extrememly agitated and had in fact unholstered their service weapons. From my vantage point, I noticed that all pertinent evidence had been… Continue

Is it too late?

Okay, so let me start with an example: A Christmas Carol. Does that book capture the setting and lifestyle simply because it was based in the time it was written? If Charles Dickens had lived in the twenty-first century, and had written the famous book, would it have been as successful? I mean, if you think about it, some of the best books based in the Victorian era were written during that time. The same goes for other famous literary works. But if you… Continue

Restoring the Power of Clichés

How a cliché becomes a cliché

When a particular cliché was first used (before it became a cliché), it created an impact. It used words in an interesting and novel way. The person who heard or read the expression might have thought, “Gosh, that’s a really creative way to express that idea.” Then, when other people began to use that expression, they were not clever; they were copycats. Having no interesting ideas of their own, they used someone else’s idea. When many people do…
