Round 1 of Edits Finished!

Yeah baby, yeah, woo hoo! Phew. I’ve just finished my first round of edits, and I’ve sent them back to my editor. Today it only took me 10 hours to finish. But it has been an intense four days of it. A total of 47 1/2 hours worth of editing. Put like that it doesn’t sound a lot though. But the first day I was at them for 14 1/2 hours, the second day 12 hours, the third 11 hours and finally today the final day 10 hours. So it’s been a pretty intense four days. Ah well round 1 of edits…

Courage

Courage

Courage

I tend to think of the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz when I see this word. It is all he wanted. He thought he could rule the jungle but lacked the nerve. He thought he didn't have that inner strength to face the fears around him.

Fear. I have seen this word as an acronym. F.E.A.R. False Evidence Against Reality.

Basically, what scenario you think might happen,…

What did country singer Lynn Anderson Teach me?

You're going to get a laugh out of this. It wasn't funny to me at the time, but now . . .

Back in the day when I was writing and promoting my songs to various artists, I had a chance to preview some of my songs to country singer Lynn Anderson (Rose Garden). She was gracious enough to take my cassette player/recorder to her bus to listen to them. Good deal, huh?…

SPEEDING DOWN THE INFORMATION HIGHWAY

When does promotion start?

The minute you take yourself seriously as a writer.

When my first book, FOOLS RUSH IN, came out in 2006, I was a novice at promotion. I did pretty well, but the…

Let's Get (Meta) Physical

psychic

What do belly dancers, ghost hunters, tarot cards, and crystal from Brazil all have in common? They and much more were seen at the 25th Annual Metaphysical Fair (commonly known as the Psychic Fair) held last weekend at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

This annual events brought over 80 vendors and speakers. If you're a true believer, an open-minded skeptic like me, or just curious, this…

JET Blog...A Reflection on CNN's Special on the Sixties!

I was asked to choose a quote from my first novel, A Brownstone in Brooklyn, to reflect on the unpredictable nature of life. How things are never the same and human beings have to adjust to life’s changing events.  A Brownstone in Brooklyn is about growing up in the turbulent sixties, one of the most event filled decades in Black-American history.…

I would like to introduce the fabulous Author DJ Shaw

April) What gives you ideas for your novels?

DJ Shaw) Truthfully I have found inspiration everywhere. Driving down the street, see a billboard, Oh I can do something really wicked with that.” That kind of thing lol

April) That’s pretty cool, it means the World is your inspirational playground :D So for my next question to you, I would like to know, do you find yourself laughing, crying or have any other emotions while writing your…

Adult Truth #14

#14I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.”

What is needed is a phone that will list the name of the person who's calling even if you don't have that person as a contact. So much easier to avoid sales people or telemarketers. I still get calls from them every once in awhile.

This truth reminded…

Horror Movie Lessons

horror-blog-jpg_192440 A couple weeks ago I was watching a horror movie (and may I digress for just a moment to say that horror movies don't really impress me much anymore? One has to be pretty darn good to be 'scary'.) and I thought about some of the lessons or truisms to be learned from these movies. I posted some of them on Facebook but later I wrote them down to post them on my blog. Plus, this would be a good…

Our Miracle baby

I had a baby on August 12,2013. It was a blessing just to have her in my arms and share her with my family. When I first saw her, she was so small. She is growing more every day now. She is our miracle baby we never thought we would have. When I was first born, The doctors thought I would not walk, talk or even read. I was born with a…
