I've seen some cracking good book covers being showcased by our new members and I'm nosy. :D So spill the beans and tell us all about it please! Who designed it, where the idea came from, etc., as much detail as you like. It would be interesting to know how what we see today came to life.

If you could add the picture of your cover too to your reply that would be helpful. :)

It is in PDF. My wife will try to convert and send it.
If you are ever interested in making your own illustrations, there are a few excellent programs out there that are quite easy to learn. Vue Infinite for landscape scenes. Poser Pro for people. Photoshop to polish the final product. They have an excellent support community that is always wiling to help teach new comers how it all works. I actually decided I wanted to produce my own artwork a few years before publishing my first novel, so I spent some time getting to know the different resources. It is much easier to learn than you might suspect..

Justin - Good information - I am not sure about the other two programs you listed, but I know that Photoshop is a great tool - expensive - but a good tool.  I agree they are easy to learn to work with too.

Dr. Jake - O.k. on your wife's assistance!

Justin - that is intense!
Thanks! Lots of fun too...

Here you go, Dr. Jake: http://www.xulonpress.com/bookstore/bookdetail.php?PB_ISBN=97816137...

Dr. Jake - I tried to search it on Xulon Press. Couldn't find it.  Family Christian doesn't have an image associated with it and the image on Amazon is very small hand hard to see.  I was going to put the link in here for you, but haven't found one that shows your image well enough.

Very, very cool Justin. I love it! I'm too cheap for Photoshop so I use Paint.net. It's free so the price is right! And it's called the poor man's Photoshop. It does plenty for me that Photoshop can.  :)

I've never made anything anywhere near that beautiful though. One of these days I'll make an effort to do better. For now it's just a fun distraction. I like doing abstracts.

I really like your cover, Delphine. The eyes definitely make the cover leap out at you!

my book cover features a pair of eyes looking through a dark blue opening. the eyes are two different colors, blue and brown, because the hero in my story has heterochromia iridium. these are the eyes of a friend of mine, who also happens to be a famous ballet dancer in the US. the title font mimics the markings on crates/wooden pallets and the blue part (that looks like wooden boards) has a prison superimposed over it, which are all elements that relate to the story. check http://www.missnyet.com/ for a picture of the cover.
