My characters tend to have lives of their own . They become real in my imagination, either that or they are wooden and need to be brought to life ... sounds familiar somehow.

My favourite character is possibly Grumphspawn, who has been about for over ten years already but has just recenly made it to the written word. He has redeemable qualities and a very large ability to imagine too.

I don't have an outright favorite myself nowadays. My favorite character when I was a young girl though was Miss Marple, Agatha Christie's elderly amateur detective. In one book she solves a crime in part because a person said they had hurt their hand on a rose bush's thorns. The type of bush they mentioned was a thornless rose and Miss Marple knew that but kept that to herself. I remember thinking how clever she was to spot their lie when the truth all came out in the end. That's the character that made the most lasting impression on me I guess. :)
My favorite character, still to this day, is Darren shan. in the book series Cirque du Freak. (one of the greatest vampireseries knownto mankind!) lol simply brilliant, i love how the author created such a mindspinning storyline based upon a half vampire named Darren,, the charcter is so emotionally human. that it give the entire book series a new sense of pain .
I loved that series!! I didnt get to finish it all because the library doesnt have it!! =C

Has anyone read slave of the huns by Géza Gárdonyi? It is a story of historial fiction using the backdrop of Attila the Hun and the clash of cultures with the Romans. The main character Zeta starts as a slave and is driven down unexpected paths of life by his obsessive love for Emmo a hunnish lady. I read it many year ago as a teenager and still enjoy its wonder to this day. A clear demonstration of the power of love and the way in which fate steers us though life. From his humble and brutal childhood Zeta grows throughout the book and is a very interesting character.
I read that one in High school it was good!

for me my favorite is sam markus ( i hope i spelled his last name right) from Heavy Metal And You by christopher krovatin this character goes through so much relationship wise and using music as his escape gave a sense of dark emotion showing how this young metal head goes through so many emotions by dating a girl who isn't in a rocker at all and the conflict of having change who he is and almost lose his friends and found much as an escape in his music
Wow, I'd definitely have to say Katie Scarlet O'Hara, from Gone With the Wind, has anyone else read that book?
Shiki Ryougi from the Japanese novel Boundary of Emptiness/Kara no Kyoukai. She's an interesting character, sharp dresser, and has a unique power that allows her to kill anything that exists. People, ghosts, magic, thoughts, and even diseases like appendicitis. She said so herself, "If it exists, even if it's a God, I can kill it.", and that's likely the truth.
DAMN!!!! that freaken sucks dude! the ending was the best part. you MUST finish it!

Oh, that was book 15. Yeah, his name was Hunter. The story is from their daughter's POV. It turns out that he was imprisoned. It’s been years since I’ve read the series as well. It was sad because of all the time that was lost, but it did show that love never dies.

I read all the books but I don't remember such a scene?? I wished the publisher had allowed for a few more books before pulling the plug…they have to make a soap based on that series. :-) smiles
