Can you give us some more details on what kind of story you'd like to write please Jasmine? We can help you more if you let us know what genre you're targeting - romance, mystery, comedy, thriller, sci-fi, all of the above? :) For example I could say your plot could revolve around tyranny in England in Elizabethan times and a vindictive octogenarian but I doubt that would help you write about sci-fi.

You don't need a whole plot outline either. You could start with a couple of scenes to give yourself a kickstart too if a plot outline feels overwhelming.

For personality traits, there's a Character Chart tool in the Writing Resources Group that scribbler posted. That should be a big help. :)
Also It depends what view you are doing dude, 1st person? 2nd person? ......??
Take out a peice of paper and write out ( think carefully) of the title, Character names, and create their looks as well as personalities, it must be peronalites your able to define in paper, through dialouge... face expressions, body language and so on.
Well, I'm looking to write a story that's both romance and a bit of a mystery.

I'm writing a story like that. Mine is a diary, but it's three girls diaries instead of one. Two are in love with one man, one doesn't know it, one is super jealous, and the other girl is trying to become a detective because she has an idea about who killed the man and the one girl who didn't know she was in love with him. You might try writing about a girl who's boyfriend is murdered on the day of their marriage, and nobody knows who did it. It could end up being a jealous girl who used to date the guy, and he wouldn't take her back because he had found someone else, and the girl he was supposed to marry spends every cent she has on private detectives to find the killer.
Jasmine, apologies about that chart redirecting you to the home page. I've added a new link there now to another one. :)

I like the intermingled diary idea you're working on, Callie. Good job!

Thanks! I'll take that idea into consideration!

Thanks Scribbler! I thought that it would be kinda confusing, but then I started writing their names under the date, but I sorta killed off one of the girls because it's even confusing for me. The thing is, one is American, one is Brittish, and one is French, and even I get them confused! But if that one doesn't work, I'm working on two others. Thanks! It's nice to know sonepeople will support me.
