Have you ever been thought to be a different person, age or something else?

I  first meet a group of my friends when I was 12 and they were between the ages of 16 and 19 one of them was turning 17 that day so we were going to her house for a family dinner. A few years had passed since Ive actually hung out with them and the one who turned 17 now has a husband and a little girl and lives out of town. The whole group of them (my friends and her husband who was part of the group) were and are extremely tall for me Im 5 foot even. I stayed a weekend with them and they were just giggling and just all starry eyed when we saw each other again. I finally asked why and they reply with a big giggle "You still look 12! Short and cute!" I screamed and called them meanies!! I was 18 already! and I still looked 12 to them!!! RWAR!! They make fun of my height and youthful looking-ness every time I go and visit. ( I go with my sister the one who introduced us and another friend)

Besides them I always get carded when my mom tells me to get her a lottery ticket or a scratch off.
Obviously Im over 18 if Im asking to buy one

I was once asked why wasnt I in school?
I was 18

If I was old enough to be working
I was 16 they thought I was 12 because they literally said "Aren't you 12 or something, are you even old enough to work?"

A girl who is 2 yrs younger than me thought I was a year younger than her.
Just yesterday I'm 19

A customer asked if I was an Inuit (Eskimo)
Im Hispanic

An elderly couple thought I was their granddaughter from Florida

A drunk lady at my aunt's wedding anniversary kept calling me a pretty little Jew girl because of my nose.
Mind you all the people who were invited was from my aunt's church which I thought was funny because lady was saying this through drunk giggles. "Mija, (a word of Spanish endearment) I remember you when you were little, do you remember me?" I slowly nod my head being nice since I really didn't remember her. "OOOOO you were so cute running around the bible study in your dress and your Auntie Janie was so proud to call you her niece! And every time I look at you I think of a pretty pretty little Jew girl because of your nose!! So cute!!" when she was saying that she was like poking the tip of my nose! "MIJA!!!! Youre so cute!!" and then jumped of the seat and went to get some more spiked punch.

Sigh....SO has anything like these events here happened to you?

Viviana, I can promise you one thing. When you're older, you'll love hearing people say you don't look your age. I have a 21 year old son and once was mistaken for his girlfriend LOL. Okay, they must have needed glasses badly but honestly, I grew up the same way you did with people always thinking I was younger. It used to bug me, especially when I'd still get asked for proof of age when I was buying a bottle of wine or something and I was in my late twenties! But now I'm in my mid forties, I like it when people can't believe how old my son is or I am. My husband's nine years older than me and they assume the gap's much wider, which I don't like but apart from that, it's flattering to be asked.

Give it ten years and you'll see how old your buddies look compared to you. Some of my classmates that I secretly envied because they looked so mature and grown up for their age look like old grandmas now. :)
I forgot to say too that the drunk lady was paying you a compliment. Take it in the spirit it was intended rather than getting steamed up about it. Elderly ladies always do stuff like that to you whether you're 8, 18 or 48. :) One day you'll be doing it yourself! :)
Oh I know she was dont think I was taking it any other way! It was just an example I just thought it funny! You see you know how in English how dumb girls use omg and speak as if every sentence is a question well in spanish they have it too. With the words like "Osea" how would I explain that....Its a form of whatever or change of subject or a form of rejecting it can be used for a lot of things. "No Manches" is another It's translation is don't stain but its an annoying way of dont pull my leg or dont say that or are you kidding me. "Que Oso" can be used for many things but its mostly for bothersome people or thing. And they also drag their words more then necessary.
Anyways the whole conversation with that lady was in Spanish and thats how she was talking to me. I know its a compliment and it was funny but I just hate when they speak like that!

Lol! Well, first off, your friends that make fun of you for your youthfullness, just think that when they're all 80 and old, they'll envy your youthfullness look!!! Of course it'll hurt now when they laugh, but just wait, and when they're older, it'll be your turn to laugh as they say, "I wish I looked as young as you!" :) Then they won't think it's so funny! And stuff like that, for me, is the exact opposite. Most people think that I'm like two or three years older, at least, than I actually am! You can ask Kay about it! :) She thought I was much older before I posted that age thread! :)
Thats true thats true! My grandma is in her late 60s and she looks like shes in her late 40s.

If it is seriously hurting you, then tell your friends, in all seriousness, that it does. Friends don't hurt friends. Pick a moment that's not when they are doing it because you'll be upset. Do it when you're calm and collected. They would probably be horrified to know how you felt and are assuming you just shrug it off and don't seriously mind.

If they don't stop after you tell them it genuinely upsets you, they aren't friends at all really. And if you can't face telling them face to face, then email or text them. Just don't be flippant or minimize the hurt. No-one can tell you how to feel and only you can put the brakes on it.
