Authors.com

Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers

I was thinking today about how big the internet is and the vastness of its reach. And then I pondered on how we all find our little corners of happiness on the web. Authors.com is definitely one of mine! So tell me, how did you get here initially and discover our fab community? :D

Hi Kay, I found authors.com simply by typing in www.authors.com.  :-)  I thought if anyone had it, it should pull up an interesting site that I can share and collaborate with.  Fortunately for me, I was correct!  :-)

At my school, my fifth grade teacher told the class to look for poems on her recommended poetry sites. My friend Chandler was not following directions and went on the web and on this site and found my cousin Kenny Thurman. I just thought that it would be cool to be on a site where you can write your own poetry. When I got home from school, I stored this site on my electronic organizer and went on it and BAM!!!! I am here.

I love that this place is growing so much!
Its quite active as well, Stacy. I am a member on some other sites such as Writers and Artists, good sites but not much interaction going on. Here if you ask a question people respond and you meet such nice folks too. ;)))

Now that I am in the middle of a move, it is difficult to remember how I came upon this site.  Considering I had been following links concerning Indie publishers, I probably came across you through an article that began with links on Writer's Digest or Publisher's Weekly.  Following links is my downfall.  It can consume hours of my time.  Fortunately, it always turns up treasures like this one.

While researching helpful sites for new authors like me that I thought would be good enough to link to from mine I was lucky enough to stumble upon Authors.com. It is no doubt one of the best author sites I have found so far and I will assuredly be recommending it with a link from my sites. Thanks for the warm welcome and I'm truly glad I stumbled upon Authors.com.

I was helping my mom look for some journals online, getting frustrated, I typed authors into the search panel and found authors.com. i decided to try it out, the warm fuzziness of authors.com made me abort mission. i haven't found mom's journals up till today, not because i tried anyway.

I actually work in online community management, and found Authors.com when I did a google search for readers and writers online communities. I used to manage the community for R&W at iVillage and have missed talking about books and authors since it went defunct several years ago. I've been so busy up until now *working* online that I haven't had much time to participate -- hoping to change that now :).

Well, for me, I'm a new author. I am self-published, which means I have no real support behind me, other than my own efforts.  It also means I have to stumble in the dark, trying to find my way.  I'm sure I'm not the only one finding this process, sometimes frustrating.  So I started looking around for a site like this, where other authors congregate.  Being a self-published author is a pretty lonely way to go, so it's always less lonely to find others in the same boat with you.

Hi Stanley,

How are you doing? Yes indeed it can be lonely. How are you developing your network and client list (fan base)?

What kind of stuff are you writing?

Best Wishes,

Geoff
