Is the Twilight series truly to die for, Or are those brainwashed chicks really just overreacting?
For me...I read the books WAY BEFORE it was suddenly famous...and I can say that The twilight books were okay, got boring after a while. The movie was complete s***. Edward is totally ugly.
anyhow, just wondering what you guys think....
Are the high pitched screams worth the books as well as the movies?, ...and even the horrible actors?

Thanks, Viviana and Andrew!

This book and movie series isn't just for teen and tween girls. Apparently quite a few adult women are "New Moon"-struck, crazy over the Twi guys. Check out this USA Today article: http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/news/2009-11-23-twilightmoms23_...
I know alot of the local high school teachers were there premier night squealin like the rest
What really bothers me is that they AREN'T Werewolves. Everyone thinks they are, but you learn... somewhere in either the third book or the fourth, that they're just Shape shifters who can only shift into a Wolf. I'm sure everyone who's a fan who hasn't read the books will be slightly freaked out when they get hit in the face with that.
On a related note to your article: Yeah, I've seen that. Half the audience in the theatre when I saw it were adult couples. A few of them were just seeing it with their kids, but one couple sitting in the row in front of me had to be in their 40's or late 30's. I was pretty surprised that that many adults were into the whole... Vampire Teen Romance as there are. Not that often older people, no offense anyone, are that interested in tales about teenagers. I know my Grandmother hates movies about Teens, lol.

The same thing would happen on any fan site though. Try saying a bad word about Trekkies on a Star Trek fan site . :) Edward did make me laugh in the movie because his makeup was so terrible. He was attempting to look mean and moody too LOL.

It's okay, but to be honest, the fans completely ruined it. Go to any Twilight board, insult Edward, and I guarantee you sparks will fly. I prefer the more classic depictions of vampires, like Dracula.
Gosh, people don't know how to wash their own blood now a days!!! Haha!! =P

Thought I'd throw my humble opinion in on this, even though this thread has been dormant for awhile now. I didn't get into Twilight until about the time New Moon came out. I'd heard all about it and was very reluctant to watch the movie as at the time the young people I worked with would not shut up about it! Being a Youth Worker eventually it got played at one of the girls sleepover residential's meaning I couldn't escape! Feeling that the story wasn't too bad I let one of the girls cajole me into borrowing the books from her. I read the first two and was actually quite impressed, though there was nothing spectacular about them, however, I loved reading the last two books.

I wish now I hadn't watched the film first as of course I had the actors in my head instead of being able to formulate my own images... all in all I think Stephanie Meyers knew her audience well and wrote a well constructed series of teen novels...

As for the fans... I've never understood the screaming and shouting even when it was for things like Johnny Depp (who is worth screaming about in my opinion ;-) ) but for the girls I worked with it was just some harmless fun that would distract them from school and mundaneness of their life... lets face it we all had something that got us through high school!!
Some fans are really psycho though!
One of Rob P.'s most scariest fan moments is when these two girls came up to him, cut their wrist, and told him to suck their blood!!
Some people take it way too far!
If 40 year old men are screaming for 16 year old girls and writing erotic fanfics about themselves and said girl, somebody will call the police.

If 40 year old women are screaming for 16 year old boys and writing erotic fanfics about themselves and said boy, it's a Twilight fansite.
thats fucken funny. lol

I honestly like the Twilight Saga. Stephanie Meyer is a very gifted writer. Her writing in all of her books is always so visual. Honestly, you have to read each book in the series a few times over to actually get to know the characters. Then, watching the movies it kind of ruined the whole perspective on the books. But i think the movies were good as an overall rating. Twilight sucked. New moon got somewhat better. Eclipse is by far the best. Robert pattinson played Edward as the book described.. just a little more poorly- that i agree. I think teenage girls and what not swooned over the Twilight book first because Edward was such a mysterious, somewhat dark vampire that was old fashioned in a sexy way. The movie ruined that image. But Since girls fell in love at first they kept goin. I think in Eclipse Robert Pattinson looks his best. I like him alot along with Jacob. Some of the people who love the books, just needed an escape from reality. People shouldnt just go "Oh God, here we go. Another Twilight fan. Ugh." When they heard someone mention "Twilight", "Love", And see a girl fainted on the sidewalk. We all have our opinions but its a little to far to go off and make a big deal about it and start dissing The books and movie and people. And the people "in love" with it, shouldnt actually faint. That's ridiculous. Buying everything Twilight... little too far. And hating someone with passion because some person dissed Edward or said something insulting about Jacob. =) Some twilight fans have gone over the top by a million miles. So have people who do nothing but diss twilight on youtube and in their blogs. All the time. Honestly its all riduculous.
Stephanie M.'s Twilight books in my opinion were written like a fan fiction!

But if you read The Host by Stephanie, that's totally different. That is a good book. Its not much fast action book but I loved the world she created! It was amazing and a lot more open then the Twilight world!
