A Song Unheard...

Red as blood, the shrub with roses two
Butterflies around, a yellow and a blue
A soft breeze flirting with the branch above
Shh, they said...'tis the day of love...

Flying around, sparrows, swallows all in pairs
Look around, feel the love in the air
The Nightingale fluttered out of her nest
Sing the song of love, sing your best!

The morning sun dazzling on the dew
A february chill, a crimson hue
The Nightingale will sing soon, she said
But for her wind she has her melodies saved...

The wind was here last night, remember?
Caresssing and tickiling under my feathers...
I am sure he will come again today,
It's but the day of love they say!

The morning rolled over to day
It's been long, where's the wind I say?
Little Nightingale sing your song
Wait for the wind, will you how long!

She asked the weather cock, where is he?
No more here, he has gone to visit the sea
A little heart lost its melody that day
A little bird's love was colored grey...

Flew away the little bird of tunes and rhymes
Goodbye she waved to her lovely happy times
So, the nightingale sang on the day of love
Behind the bowers...alone, unloved and unheard...

Pritha~ What a sweet love poem that reminds us how fleeting love can be and how we must cherish it while we have it.  I especially like the lines, "The morning sun dazzling on the dew" and "A little bird's love was colored grey."  Lovely!

Thanks a ton for your nice words :)

Nice piece. The flow is a little up and down. In the last segment, I would use (Fly) instead of Flew; it balances out the tense. When trying to get your work published, I would not use italics, at least not for the entire piece.

Thanks Robert :)
