Good question, Leigh! I doubt that vampires will be displaced anytime soon. For as long as the Twilight series continues to be massively popular, vampiric themes will sustain their hold. Me, I would love to see environmental themes rise to the top of the heap.

I'm a childrens author, writing for ages 8-12 and i must say they're a tough market. I often have kids asking me when am i going to get vampires in my immortal worlds as well! I think they just want to read what the older kids are reading.

Welcome to the Children's Book Writers Group, Ashley. I think you're onto something there. What kind of characters do you have in your immortal worlds?

Hi Folks.

This Genre is a great one, but there isn't much discussion here yet?

I read my first book at school and the looks on the children's faces was such a pleasure to see. They loved being in the story with me reading.
Is it always such good stuff when reading to kids you don't know?
The school have booked me for the second story already.

Who has heard of The Big Wide-mouthed Frog by Ana Martin Larranaga. A fantastic tale for the very young. We had excellent fun over the years with this one. Especially when we all put on accents and had different parts in the story, though we all joined in when it came to "and I eat flies" (said in a molasses dripping southern US accent)

What are your favourite books for the very young?

To Curse or Not To Curse?
I'm venturing into YA fiction and with today's lean toward all reality all the time, how do we as writers approach this subject. I struggle with this question: If I allow my characters to curse, am I encouragiing my readers to use bad language? My current writing takes place in an urban setting and when I hear my characters speak, they want to use all the language of the street. Rather than struggle with the dilema of real vs profane, I chestise my characters and keep them on the straight and narrow. What are your thoughts?

Forgive my misspelling chastise.
