Best known for Catcher in The Rye, it was announced today that the reclusive author had died of natural causes at the ripe old age of 91.

Did you read Catcher in the Rye or any of his other works?

I hate to admit I've only recently read Salinger...need to delve a little further, as you noted when time permits:)
I was reading an interesting article about J.D. Salinger today. By some accounts he wasn't really a recluse in the true sense of the word. Neither was he very nice to women allegedly.

Salinger: "Recluse" with an ugly history of women
Cricket, I found a site that has 22 short stories of his. These would be hard to find in print. "They have not been reprinted officially since their original publication." That's what the site says. All except one is from the 1940s.

I had completely forgotten about that connection, Betty! Thanks for bringing it up and reminding me. That was such a tragedy.

I read Catcher as well, it's a solid perspective on life that I can relate to, but it wasn't that good a book.
