Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers

A bit about myself...

Since there doesn't seem to be a lengthy place to put up author bios or such (or I'm missing it), a bit about myself:

I live in a small town in Southern Ontario, Canada and have been writing mainly for my own amusement (and partially my friends' amusement) since I was about 10. This means I have in and around a decade of writing experience under my belt...so to speak.

Most of what I wrote long ago is unusable now but I am gleening some ideas and characters from the old-stories-that-should-be-burned. I have written my first novel, "Tale of the Twins, Book One: Gathering and Destruction" and it IS out for sale as an e-book and as an actual novel (on amazon and Barnes and Noble for those interested).

For those who are curious, I do have a website (vonravenstone.com) and a few other networking things here and there. With a name like mine, it shouldn't be too hard to find me. ;)

Anyway, I write mostly fantasy. I've dabbled in sci-fi and am dabbling in crime fiction with one novel I'm working on...off and on. More research will be needed for the crime fiction one as I have no idea about what actually goes on in a crime scene investigation and what not. Currently, I have about...25 ideas and am working on five novels in tandum.

My friends say I have an 'entrepreneurial' mind, that is, I can't stay focused on one thing and I have to move to other things or I'll get bored. My friends also call me an introvert with the communication skills of a social butterfly when needed and a rambler. I completely agree, especially with the rambling part. If I ever write something less than four pages (a short story), I'm pretty sure the world would end...ha.

Since that is out of the way, I feel a bit better. And, feel free to ask me questions about whatever may come to mind. :)

I started writing young too, at about 11 and now I'm errr...too old to want to admit it! :) Let's just say I have a couple of decades on you. Never be tempted to burn the old stories! Apart from gleaning ideas like you said, they also show you how much you've developed. Hang on to them and sell them in your old age when you're rich and famous. :) I'm a rambler too by the way and tend to flit from one thing to another. I'm very enthused at the start and once it's beginning to shape up, I'm already thinking about something else. :)

There is a big leap between then and now though, it's actually pretty funny. :) And same, I get so excited with a new idea, write till about the sixth chapter then flit to some other idea...lol.

i mostly write in Scifi and fantacy but every one moves along.
i will admit all my very early storis left with the great mold atack and i am only working still on three novel ideads that someday i might finish all short stories are related to those.
i will try and keep up on line and pay attenstion but the Dragons are pretty and the Aliens are just so cool.

Dragons are very pretty, though oddly, I don't write in many dragon charcters. I'm more end-of world theme and exploring the concept of death. *cough* I haven't ever written aliens yet, not that I remember...lol. I look forward to reading some of your work. :)

@ Scribbler: I haven't but I will now. And I think rambling goes hand in hand with being a writer. At least, that's what I've noticed.
