Since my early retirement, I have begun to take my writing a little more seriously. I have been given the chance to speak at a local community college and try to convince the students that TTYL is not a proper word. This texting pandemic is invading every aspect of a student's education and nobody seems to care. I worry that some trade school  dunce will miscategorize my ailment and request a barium enema when blockage is  a  nasal  symptom.

I hate textspeak and agree with you wholeheartedly, Scott. It's dumbing down a whole generation. I fear for the English language.
