When we see depression, in and of itself, it is a gateway. It is a door-opener to some mal-feelings. Depression can cause you to feel sad, lonely, and lowly. But then deep depression takes you a step further. No one loves me. I’m not worth anything. When you get to that place, you are not going up: you’re going further down. Depression is the door or the threshold that leads you to deep depression. It partners with deep depression to take you further down into the tunnel. You don’t want to get to this door, but if you do, you want to have a positive antidote to keep you from getting sucked into that tunnel or letting that leech attach itself to you and suck the life out of you. When you apply these positive antidotes, you can respond responsibly to triggers that can bring about an episode with any circumstances you encounter.
