I loved you for a minute in the past
but it was so awkward
you were my best guy friend
and our silly flirting meant nothing
but everyone thought it was cute and that we looked good
And when we kissed it was quick
so there was no warmth for our true feelings to grow
so we let our relationship go back to friendship
and we laughed how we rushed it
We're the best of friends
but when we look at each other and there's a spark
you speak about it
but I'm afraid of it
I wanna say the same things you do
but my defenses rise up
and I just smile and say You're silly!
I saw you for the first time in a long time
and I smiled ear to ear you said I love you!
I soared but I got scared
I hugged you and left
I'm sorry that I'm such a coward
I'm sorry I can't say what I know I feel
I wanna see you hold you
and Love you like you should.

It's heartfelt. :) I have a friend that went through that dilemma of wondering if they should try and be a couple. He had been her best friend from childhood and as a couple, they couldn't get in sync. As best friends, they were perfect for each other. After a very short time they decided friendship was best.

What I want to know is if that's a true story. :)
