Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers

I found out this week that I can bypass the agents and publishing companies, and go straight to the distribution companies that sell to the book stores. Has anybody heard of this.

Agents are notoriously swamped with queries. I belong to AgentQueryConnect where agent doings is only one of the things discussed. I also follow a couple agent's blogs, and I've even tried to interest them in my work. I like to have an agent. I really need the help an agent can provide in the sales department anyway. I'm prepared for the long haul in that department, but that's not going to stop me publishing another book sometime soon. Life is short and I can't waste it all waiting for an agent, though I'll keep trying.

I'm curious what you plan with an agent-free agency.
Hi Michael,
My associate and I are not agents, but Author's Assistants. We help the author with all the processes involved in self processing. If you like, please visit our website at www.ontimeassistants.com. All of our contact information is on the site and I'd be happy to answer any questions for you.

Thank you,
Ellen
Michael, did you see this thread in Marketing and Promotions? 24 Literary Agents open to reading and reviewing books right now.
