Tricky things are happy dreams;
Their joy is darker than it seems.
The surface glows, but 'neath the seams
An undertow of darkness teems,
Where laughter covers endless screams
And bathes the mind in Horror's streams.

Bathes the mind in Horror's streams.

That final line will stay with me for quite a while, Oliver. :) What was behind this poem?

Well, it was really inspired by a line from another poem, though I can't remember the name of it. But I used my extensive experience with good dreams gone bad and wrote this little piece about it.
