Sea Of Monsters

Overall: Kind of mediocre but still a good second installment

In case you haven’t heard there is a fantasy series that’s been around a few years now. It’s called Percy Jackson and The Olympians series. And I just recently discovered it and the addicting effect it has on it’s readers. So here’s my review on book two of the series which is called Sea of Monsters.

First off Percy Jackson series ask the question, what if the gods and monster of Greek mythology existed today. And the gods still had half blood human children to be heroes. This is the world of Percy Jackson. Which may be odd at first , but once you get into it, it’s fun. And in case you didn’t read the first book, Percy Jackson is the son of Poseidon.

Sea of Monsters takes place on the second summer where Percy attends Camp Half-blood. Yet someone had poisoned the tree on half blood hill that keeps the monsters away. Not it’s may be as dangerous as any where else for the heroes. Also the camp is under management of Tantalus who is cruel and seems to hate Percy and his friend Annabeth on sight. But Percy’s friend Grover is in trouble. He sees it in a dream and despite the camp leader’s orders not to leave camp, Percy , Annabeth, and their new friend Tyson head off into the Sea of Monster to save Grover.

Once the quest takes off into the Sea of Monster though, you get a very familiar felling. Like you read this before. And then you will remember that we all had to read the Oddysee in high school and this is very much a remake of that with fun character plugged in. There is fun stuff to keep you interested, and there’s a the bit of cliff hanger at the end that make you curious of what comes next.

So the good. Lot’s of action humor and is just fun. The Percy Jackson series is addicting and this book doesn’t make you sway away from the series any.

The bad. It’s kind of mediocre compared to the original and think that is because it is a remake of the Odyssee. Also because of that it was very predictable unlike the first book

So overall it’s not great, but it is still a good book. So check it out . It’s not a bad second installment.

Rating: 3 smoothies out of four.
