Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers

Its not a secret that I am disabled as a result of the dental trauma on my health. I have a hard time reading. I chose to edit my book by myself. I thought it will force me to read and break through.

It turned out to be a big mistake. I was hysteric and I did my best but it was not enough.

On the day my book was published my parents were diagnosed with six months to live and so on and on to the point that I basically stayed away from my book. I could not read it.

Six months passed by and I stumbled upon Vista print. I started ordering promotional material for such a low price that I had fun.

I imagined myself going downtown wearing my book Tshirt, bag, pen, key chain, hat and handing out post cards which cost me as much as a simple black and white photo copied fliers.

I decided to join the First chapter promotion of my publishing company which refused to give me a file with my first chapter for free. The fee was $500.

I could not afford that kind of expense so I decided to edit my old file and create a secure PDF of my first chapter.

I was shocked to discover that I had made so many errors of typing. Words that I know how and so on... I realized that perhaps I made a progress in reading and perhaps I did overcome a lot of pain. After all my book is not about love and romance but about real life trauma and crime which is still affecting my health.

I became ill from worry that I lost my money, my book and my dream but a voice inside me kept nagging me that there is a happy endings.

I decided to revise my book and when I looked at the fees I almost fainted. I cannot afford $49 every 15 minutes of edit. I have so many correction it will cost over a thousand I do not have.

I decided that I can afford to insert an apology before the table of contents. I emailed the company my offer.

I still feel good about my book but I am really curious, would those mistakes prevent sales of my book and the content is amazing.

I think the most important is that I do not feel bad about it. I am still going to keep my head high. With a read and write disability I managed to write a book, that is amazing. Anyone can pay and have a perfect book but can anyone write a perfect book without hiring help?

Lots to think about....
