Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers

FYI: This post sets off a busy day here on The Scoop. I am going for four today as I have a backlog of posts on digital short stories. My problem of late has been I have enjoyed reading them way too much as I have been able to find a diversity of stories to read which I think fuels my desire to read even more. Starving in Malibu is a prime example of that. Dianne Sherry Case has written three things now that I have read: her full length novel Elephant Milk, Starving in Malibu, and one more digital short story that I am posting on next week or the week after entitled Morning Time. Each is unique; the perspective in each is different and the circumstances surrounding her main characters are complex. For a simple guy like me it is neat to get a read on her stuff because I have no idea what is around the corner. Here is a glimpse into the story;

“Diane Sherry Case brings much to the table in this new digital short series. In beautiful Malibu where there are luxurious homes, grand pools and beautiful people, is everything as perfect as it seems? Case's multi-layered work delves into the complex goings on in a family that seemingly has it all, yet may in fact have much of nothing. Explore with her as she brings these characters to life in ways that will challenge you at times, and make you think and shake your head at others.”

One of the characters in the story does in fact suffer from anorexia, but it would seem that her issues are not as bad as some of the other characters. The inner workings of the family are on display here and Diane Sherry Case lets those emotions bubble to the top like a cauldron on full boil. Fortunately the end was not one of those that don’t lend itself for a continuation. I became engrossed in the plotline, invested in the characters and was eager to read the outcome of the story. Basically what I am trying to say is, I would like more please. There are many different types of starvation, no matter how much money one may have, a few are on display here. The bang for the buck is here, download this digital short story to any ereader and have a blast for $.99, don’t be starved for a good story, eat it up.
