Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers

So... after months of dreaming it, thinking it over, writing it, re-writing it, designing the cover, doing the video trailer, editing it, re-editing it, formatting it.... I finally have come to the end. The final formatting edits were sent to the publisher today - and now...it is only the cover to give the final approval too.  Then it is off to printing!

So as I sit back and think about the fact that I have finished my second book in a single year, I find myself filled with not only a sense of accomplishment but a sense of satisfaction.  You knows if these books will ever really make money, but the fact that in a couple week, I will be holding my second book in print amazes me.  Especially since it was just last October that the first thoughts of writing ever graced my mind.

How do you all feel once you have completed your book?  You know that time after you know you finished the edits - and you are waiting for that final copy to make it to your hands?

Mariah - you think this is humbling - wait till someone asks you to sign a book - I feel so humbled when I hand it to them and they hug it to their chest!

Don't forget you could add an excerpt to the new Book Excerpts Group too of both books. I'm dying to see somebody kick it off! :) I've seen them work well before in communities. Roll up folks, roll up! :)

Very good to hear! I'm cheering you both on and only wish I had more time right now to help you push them.

Thank you so much Kay. My copy-editor and I are finalizing some tiny points today and it will go off this week for final approval.  This entire process is awe-inspiring and humbling.  I'll be sure to keep everyone informed of any and all updates.

I once talked to class of schoolkids about writing and as part of that I read them my children's short story, Hannah and her Heart. I was roped into it by my husband's niece who volunteered me to her teacher after showing her an anthology it was included in.

After the talk I had all these nine year olds crowding round me asking for my autograph and shoving bits of paper at me. I was saying "Err, are you sure you want it? I'm not famous you know..." LOL. I felt really humbled by that too. :)

Kay - Thank you for the reminder of the Excerpt section!  Just added some for both my books!  Hope you check them out!
