Once again, interesting stuff. I believe, if we are to develop in writing (as in life) we must strive to be better for all of the talents we need. This includes the ability to be creative, its a subconscious thing - i think, but we can use our conscious self to give it direction and motivation. I try to nurture the creativity in me always, particularly as my stories as set in the half sleep, the Land of Dreams. I need to be as inventive as I can to make them shine. I will check out the link again, for sure, I tend to find that I need a couple of reads and a bit of time for it all to sink in.

Thanks Kay for pointing us all in a good direction.

Wasn't it Stephen King who said, inspiration comes to us all, but it has to find you working hard... or some such.

I agree with what has already been said, I think that writing does come more naturally to some than others, however I think we all have to learn to hone our skills/talent by practising and accepting constructive criticisms.

one can practice something until the cows come home, then play it or write it, but without passion it's flat.

How true! I think that writing has to be a passion! I think sometimes it even becomes an obsession (it certainly seems like that when you're still writing at 4am!)

I do often personify 'my muse' as it were, blaming it, rather than myself for falling behind on my writing, but I think in general, writers tend to be (and I know, I am generalising wildly here,) creative in lots of ways, whether it be musically or in an arty way, and that is surely genetics... which side of your brain has dominance etc?

Any way, interesting article!

Thanks Kay!
