Authors, Writers, Publishers, and Book Readers

How many of you have multiple works in progress?  Are they all the same genre? How do you divide your time between them?

Currently, I have 4 WIP's.... sounds like alot huh?  Right now I am thinking that too!  As my second book just went back to my publisher for the formatting (after 13 hours of editing, my eyes are still crossed) I find myself looking at all the projects I have in the works.

One project is about half way through - but I had come up with a snag in the plot and I got frustrated so I put it on the back burner.  Recently, as I find myself mulling over the issue, I think I found the way to work through my snag... but.... There is a more recent project that I started that I was working hard on.  As soon as I figured out how to work through the other issue, I lost my train of thought on the new one.

Then there is the other book that I am working on with another author.  Now that one is a huge project that will be in the making for a long time, but we are throwing ideas back and forth and running plot ideas and twists back and forth.

Then there is book 3 of my series (the second book is about to be published).  After reading book 2 - and coming back to those characters I find myself running that plot hard and heavy in my mind.  Conversations and characters building....

I'm at a loss right now as to exactly what I should be working on.  I think I have so many things in the works that I am befuddled as to which one to go to next.

Anyone else get themselves in this situations?  How do you work through them?

I'm having a heck of a time finding time to clean my truck before winter. Between writing, working and trying to find an agent, I don't have much time left. So you are not the only one pulling your hair out...Hang in there kid...
What do you mean Price Match?...And do you have an agent?...

Ok guys, need some input here. Barnes and Noble will be selling my book at the store for $15, should I price match when I do my book signing? I'm tossing this back and forth and not really sure what the right answer is.

BTW Stacy dear I'm loving book two ;0) Holy cow, that's all I can say!

Boy I must be lost tonight,  what do you so know...

Hi Amy!

For me there is a problem with the price of my books. There are plenty of Kindle - paperback selfpublished authors for 3-4-5 $ and they have good sales. My prices depend on my publisher and I can say nothing but I see it as an obstacle for the popularity and sales of my books. So I am interested in your opinion in this regard.

I currently have my book listed at $10.80 but I can change the pricing at my discretion as I don't have a publishing company or agent mandating what I can and can't do (yet lol) Since B & N are going to charge $15 for the book I thought for the signing I could raise the price to match their $15, taking into consideration that normally ppl would have shipping and handling costs when ordering but they can get a flat rate by getting it at the store and signed to boot.

Amy - does your book have the price on the cover?  That is going to make a difference.  Also - tell me - I know you said B&N is bring in 5 books for the signing to have on hand - after you sell those - and you start selling your own - are you taking the money? Or does it go through the cashiers there?

Did I tell you - my hubby was in B&N the other day - and he went around to all the computers and pulled up my book and left it on the screen!  lol.... too funny

Glad you are enjoying it!  Can't wait to see what you think of the end!

I think in the store you go with the B&N pricing as it will go through the computer at that price.

When I was in my last signing they had all fiction on 3 for 2. I have no idea how they juggled that with the purchase cost.

Anyway I think with your charm you will sell lots

Stacey, was your husband working or did he just hijack their computers? Hilarious!

Amy - I would be tempted to price match personally, because as you say, at least the customers don't pay for postage and they get personalised copies.

Catherine - he was in there shopping - they have computers throughout the store for people to search the books they carry on-line if it is not on the shelf.  So he put it up on all of them.

Oh right, I like it! My husband hasn't even read my book yet, but apparently he is telling his work colleagues about it so I'll let him off!
Jason read book 1 - but hasn't read the second one. Someday he might - but he tweets some of my tweets, sold a few at his work and talks about me to his cycling buddies so I'm o.k. with that.
