April, Allen is my last name, Robert is my first name. When I'm looking for an agent I just type in Literary Agents and go from there. There are many agents who will represent unsolicited authors. And there are just as many publishers who will publish unsolicited author. Just note!!! Go with agents, who are members of the AAR (Association of Authors’ Representatives).  But getting an agent can be as hard as getting a publisher. At this time I do not want to self publish. In part I don't have the money and in part I want to go the traditional method.

A couple hints, make certain you have the correct word count. I write mystery, which most publishers are looking for 70,000 - 90,000 word count. It doesn't go by pages. My first book was 142,000. I was lucky and had a publisher who wasn't interested in my work but was kind enough to inform me that I needed to revise the book and edit it down to 90, 000 words or less. It has to do with the binding, the cost to make the book. Another hint is DON"T bother those you sent it to with e-mail and phone calls. If you don't hear from them in four to six weeks, try again and or go elsewhere. And don't feel bad every one gets rejected!!! I have a rejection document that is filling up fast. What can someone say instead of LOL. I don't think it take luck. It takes hard work.

Thank you Robert for your input. Yes one of the first things I checked out was the word count as I didn't want to be wasting my time or an agent/publishers either. I write Paranormal Fantasy/ Urban Fantasy and sadly this also means who I can send it to is decreased instantly as a lot of agents and publishers don't deal with them.

Best of luck to you as well Robert.

Another choice is using the Writer's Market. I've seen a lot of agent/publishers who accept Paranormal Fantasy there.

Hello everyone.  I'm midway through my sixth book in a six book SciFi/Fantasy series.  I published the first one "The Crystal Conflict" already and hope to release one per year.  It's on Amazon and B&N.  Only been out for two months and I'm hopeful.

Nice to meet everyone.

Keep in mind, that if you do go will the small press or indies, look for those who pay at least token (or above) advances and have some type of solid distribution in place for book store placement. There are some out there, so use due diligence in your research.

Good luck to all in your pursuit!

Hello D. C. Great news about your book. I wish you the best of luck.

Thank you, Anna.  I've found favor so far and wish it on everyone here also.  The Crystal Conflict in case anyone wants to check out the FaceBook page for the series.  I'm pleased to be counted here among the group.
