Are You Ready for a Shiloh Shepherd?

Dog ownership can be fun and rewarding – but it can also be confusing and frustrating, especially when you get a new puppy home and you’re not sure exactly how to raise and train it. Different breeds have specific needs, and in The Beginner’s Guide for I.S.S.R. Shiloh Shepherd Owners, Steve Mekkelsen Madden generously shares the wealth of knowledge he has acquired from owning and showing these…

Steve... Welcome aboard authors.com, …from The Chuck!
I write sci-fi novels filled with adventure, mystery, romance, drama, horror, comedy, and many more genres mixed in...  Sci-fi for everyone to enjoy. I'm also a published poet. When you have a moment, please check out my Authors page and some of my many videos and blogs... My Blogs include some of my free to read, short sci-fi stories for everyone to enjoy.

I'm not familiar with Shiloh Shepherd. I have a five year old male Chihuahua who's my best buddy. He also plays a part in my Apollo sci-fi fantasy Trilogy Novels, and he's on each cover. Poncho is the smartest dog I've shared my life with, and he learns very fast. Actually, the little guy commands me when he needs to run outside to do his duty, or when he needs his water bowl refilled, and so on.

Let me know if you'd like to become friends.

The Chuck!

Hi Chuck, I am honored to be asked as a friend, thank you very much.  Shilohs are a rare breed developed in the USA (NY) for the last 60 years.  They make an excellent companion dog and are very expressional as it seems your Poncho may be as well.

I'm also a Sci-Fi nerd and love everything about it.  I loved the new series that just started "Terra Nova" and it looks like a very interesting series that can go many directions.  I've also published some poetry over the years, nothing real big, but nonetheless I enjoyed doing it.  I have been so busy lately with the girls (our 4 Shilohs), writing my book and working full time that I have not been so literarily involved though I'd love to do so soon.

I'll be sure to check our your blogs and other details...thanks again!  - Steve

Welcome to you Steve! :) Have fun. You’ve discovered a nice crowd here at Authors.com.  I have dogs too. One's a Jack Russell and the other's a Spitz/chihuahua cross. I wouldn't trade them for the world. :) Although the Shiloh Shepherd looks gorgeous! On our next move we plan to get some acreage and hubby's promised me that I'll get another dog then. I'd have a dozen if he'd let me. :)

We’d appreciate it if you could drop by this thread and share how you came across us Steve if you have a spare minute. Thanks! :)

Hi Kay, thank you for the warm welcome!  It's nice to hear of other dog lovers out there and how they impact and fill our lives with joy.  Shilohs did just that for my wife and I.  We started with one "Mali" and she impressed us so much, we now how four girls.  We've had two litters thus far and planning for others to help make the breed as great as it is.  They make fantastic companion dogs and service/therapy dogs.  Mali, our eldest at 3 1/2 years old, is my wife Sherri's service dog and she impresses us everyday.

I'm glad to hear you have pets of your own and they contribute to your success and happiness!

Hello Steve; Were you able to get a copy of my book to review? (Nightmares and Dreams or Tomorrow's Rain)

Thanks

Lyn

Hi Lyn,

I apologize for the delay, I was out in TN trying to breed one of our dogs and she stalled while there.  I'm going back hopefully this week and will take the electronic version of the Nightmares and Dreams with me to read.  Thanks again!

Thank you Steve; Nightmares and Dreams was my first attempt at writing a novel. I'm hoping that I have improved the art as I go along. Tomorrow's Rain is my second book.
