“Don’t take yourself so seriously!” I’ve heard this phrase more times in my life than I can count. And, it’s quite a true statement of life in general. But when you have a goal that you’re absolutely passionate about, well, that’s an entirely different story.
See I recently took part in a book fair where about twenty self-published or indie published authors, spent six hours representing their work and learning from each other. It was a fantastic time, I met new friends, and it was…

You know the usual greeting when you first meet someone. You exchange salutations and eventually the conversations goes around to, "So what do you do for a living?"
Generally, when I say I am a writer, I get one of two looks. The "You're kidding me, right?" or my personal favorite, "You write? Oh, that's cute." When I first started out on this journey, I felt so insecure about my work that when I got this reaction I didn't feel writing was anything special. I ended up…

The number one rule for authors is to network with other authors. I have been informed numerous times that authors who resist others in the field, often disappear. What’s the best way to network? Find someone smarter than you. It's the only way we will learn and/or grow.…

Now this is a way to start your day!
I'm helping a couple who say they've been shopping for a new range. After visiting three competitors they were still on the fence over which brand to purchase.
"The reviews I've read online are very negative about many brands I thought would be good for our kitchen remodel," the husband said.
I explained how I didn't take to heart online reviews because I'm familiar with the fact that competitors will create phony reviews to trash the…

OK, the title of this post is perhaps a little silly and I am stating the obvious. There cannot be a writer out there who does not love books, but I am open to comments if you can prove me wrong. Anyway, my point is that I love books. I have always loved books. As a child, my mother taught me to read, and would take me to our local library every Saturday morning. I would step into that small one storey building full of excitement and happiness, and spend a few hours searching the shelves in…

Good evening to those most likely very few readers out there of my first online blog!
Let me start by introducing myself: My given name is Collette Heather Martin (although I dabble in the art of Burlesque of which my stage name is Lette Von Lush)
I suppose now I should talk about how I have loved reading and writing ever since I was young, when truthfully, I hated reading when I was a child. No matter how hard I tried (which, looking back, was most likely not…

The T.P.L Publications came about from and idea that CEO's Fiordaliza Charles and Charron Monaye agreed to back in 2010, that would enable them to help to create poetry anthologies, that will aide to showcase 20 poets worldwide; one book at a time.
Since that idea, they have not only provide an open platform to over 50 poets and writers worldwide but, they have also managed to provide an open platform to many individuals as they gain the recognition that they truly deserve for…

I have just finished writing an intense cliffhanger of an ending to my second Redcliffe novel Love Kills. It was amazing! Having finished editing a separate manuscript, I was thinking about what needed to be done on my current WIP. I had written the first draft of Love Kills, but was unhappy with the way I had finished it. There had to be more.
Well it seems that my muse agreed, and all day today, while doing my menial household chores, the story has unfolded…

Well I did it! I entered NaNoWriMo for the very first time, and I succeeded, and I won. Tonight at midnight I validated my novel with 50,168 words. The best thing is, I haven't even finished yet but I am so close to the end I can taste it, and it is sweet!
It has been a long, hard month. My poor baby daughter has become very well-acquainted with her toys and the popular British children's TV channel…

When I was in college, I worked behind the front desk of a major hotel. Directly across the lobby was the hotel bar, a small, dark lounge with the bar counter on the opposite side and a stage at one end. George Thorogood, when he stayed at the hotel, would sit at the far end of the counter, next to the stage.
Connie, the bartender, once told me that her job was to…
