Away in a Manger

From Matthew 1: 18-25

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.

But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to…

D A Bm G

I.

When Im living in darkness

There is light I want to reach

but its so far, so far

Living in sorrow full of pain

I dont know where to shed my tears

I need someone to hold on

II.

Why the light never disappear Even I walk away from it

How come? Why?

Give light ahead to show the way

Guiding my path to cross the place

How come? and why?

THE HUMAN SOUL

If I feel weakened, annoyed, disturbed or in any way distressed by a thought about another person, it is not the other person who needs to change, it is me. I needed to change the way I thought by dropping the negative thought, for nothing good came out of it. How I think of another person is how I affected my thinking. These thoughts become feelings.…

RIDING WITH THE POSSE

Second to writing fiction, my passion is marketing. I know some people dread this part of the process of being an author. I was one of those who had to be dragged into cyber marketing, fighting every inch of the way. I didn't have time for reading blogs on the Internet or interacting with those who did. I couldn't afford to buy all the books they tried to ram down my throat and…

Books To Help You Remember The Great Elizabeth Taylor

Furious Love: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and the Marriage of the Century, by Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger

This soapy, delicious and highly literary double biography, which came out in hardcover last year (and which I hear is now being rushed to paperback by May), was excerpted for a Vanity Fair cover story along with some of the most striking pictures I…

Where Do Strong Men Go?

Where Do Strong Men Go

By C.E. Manor

Where do strong men go when they have to weep

When they have to cry or express defeat

When their wives are calling their men of steel

Or their children come running with confidence and zeal

When the rent is late and the lights are due

Women…

ROGER TOUHY - MURDERED BY CHICAGO MOB

My uncle, Roger Touhy, was involved in bootlegging in the northwest suburbs of Chicago during the time of Prohibition, an ill-advised law that was subsequently repealed.  Previously, Roger had been in the U.S. Navy, received an honorable discharge, traveled west to Colorado and Oklahoma where he worked at train depots and learned about buying land and selling it to big oil people, respectively.  He returned to Chicago to marry, have two sons and establish himself as a businessman by owning…

Texting while on the sales floor - an excerpt from 'Who's Minding the Store?'

When he got to the store, Derrick took his time walking the sales floor, doing his best to remain unnoticed. He wanted to see how the associates behaved in the absence of the store manager.

The first group of associates he saw were less than impressive.

Florence and Tiffany were cashiers, standing at their registers texting on their cell phones, instead of focusing on the customers waiting to make a purchase.

There was a company SOP, forbidding the use of personal cell…
