Unintitled

Its been a while since I've been here... Been pretty busy with work and Christmas and a bunch of other stuff. Just thought I'd drop in and leave a little note letting everyone know I'm still alive (somehow, lol). I was out just now, buying stuff with my gift cards that I got for Christmas and when I got home, I was surprised to see a FedEx truck outside my house. At first I didn't think much about it, but when I spotted the parcel he was leaving at our front door I was all jumpy and such. I had… Continue

Writing

One has to understand the nature of the writing urge. It takes no time to put something down, but it takes a life time to write it out to our love.
William Faulkner once wrote that "writing is as giving birth to ideas." We all strive for this kind of success.
Write on!

Another Day

It was nothing
ehterial in sculpture
shining white against the winter's bliss
a small thing
freckled with old lawns' dust.
A snowball
most recently kissed
by the smiling face of kid.

Skin Deep

Tricky things are happy dreams;
Their joy is darker than it seems.
The surface glows, but 'neath the seams
An undertow of darkness teems,
Where laughter covers endless screams
And bathes the mind in Horror's streams.

Tidbits, continued...

You know what I like about tidbits? They're like snacks, little bites that can satisfy that hunger when you're not really in the mood for a full meal. A little pick-me-up when you need it most. So, on that note......A Quiet Storm It's a quiet storm that rages within/It's a silent burn beneath the skin/It's the loudest sound you've never heard/The thundering power of just a word. Today's word is-ECHO

Midnight Sea

I sneaked out while slowly closing the door. I did not want to wake up my roomates. The floor creaked with every step i took. Apparently, the wood was old enough. I walked toward the kitchen and opened up the backdoor. I carefully closed this door too and soon found myself outside. Midnight was really cold. I zipped my jacket and carefully stepped down the creaky steps. I look both sides before crossing the Resort Villa's street, for it is anything but normal to find a 16 year old outside his… Continue

Sensitivity 101 for the Heterosexual Male is getting rave reviews. From experts and friends alike, they all have something different to say about the same book. It amazes me how many people have such differing views.

Merry Christmas!

I hope all of you are spending this holiday season with family and friends.

We all have a lot to be thankful for and no one should spend it alone. Be sure to make the most of this Christmas Holiday cheer because we only celebrate this one day out of the year. But that doesn't mean we can't sport this spirit throughout the rest of the year. I personally have had life-changing events take place that leave me wondering what I did that was so right to be blessed with such good fortune. I… Continue

The Endless Night – LAPD Lockup, August 18th 2006

I was going to write a little bit about the background to my night in jail: to place it in context. But upon reviewing this chapter - probably the most important, and certainly the rawest chapter in my book Broken Whole: a California tale of Craziness, Creativity and Chaos, I realized that it more or less speaks for itself. And believe me, the night in jail was just the prelude to the longest four days of my life.…

Authors at Large

Anyone who writes will most likely tell you taking on the challenge of writing a novel can be more frustrating than you might think at first. In fact, you might be able to get through 1-1/2, maybe 2 chapters before you realize the extent of research, editing, more research, more editing you have to do before your 1st manuscript is completed. That's where the fun really begins because after you read your first copy in manuscript form you realize you have even more changes required before you get… Continue

Tips on Finding an Agent for a Novel - How a Query Letter Differs from a Synopsis

Hello, and let me first state how excited I am about this site. Kay Elizabeth, the editor of The Cuckleburr Times, recently brought Authors.com to my attention, and I'm always thrilled when I find a site dedicated solely to serious writers or people with a penchant for reading.

As a full time novelist and editor, unfortunately, I don't have the time I would like to be able to spend with chat rooms, etc., but I will certainly try my best to answer anyone's questions. Just understand… Continue

Stupid Slow Computer

I broke my computer the other day cause it was going slow. I'm guessing it's my fault, i should really have more patience, but I was mad because I had 3 more chapters of Cody Miller on there that I was going to post up THAT EXACT DAY! :(

I also had a book I was writing and it already had 15 chapters...I lost it all. So, I'm never going to smack the palm of my hand on a computer screen EVER AGAIN 'cause last time I did that, something very bad happened...

I'm just mad about all the… Continue

The Newest Review of Sensitivity 101 for the Heterosexual Male

Sensitivity 101 for the Heterosexual Male

By Philip Nork

AuthorHouse

ISBN: 9781438967448

228 Pages

Avaiable at Amazon.com

This is one of those books where, in my opinion, the title does not adequately portray the content. Primary reason: Sensitivity 101 for the Heterosexual Male by Philip Nork is not just for males, or even for just heterosexual individuals. This book can be enjoyed by anyone who has an interest in understanding his or her sexual… Continue

Tidbits

Just a few tidbits-no more, no less
Just a few thoughts-I must confess
For just a few minutes-I ask of your time
For just a few seconds-you will be mine!
(For as long as it takes to read a few tidbits-GOTCHA!)

....to be continued...

Who is your audience?

Many people will read what you write. We call these people your audience. When you write, your document or manuscript is the tool you use to communicate with them, so understanding them helps you communicate in an appropriate manner. However, unlike some other forms of communication, you actually have two audiences, which we call “primary” and “secondary” audiences. We’ll look at each in turn.

Your primary audience is the person or group of…

Dimensions of Genesis - Prologue

Dimensions of Genesis - Prologue

In the stillness

A sentient being waits

A creator, an essence, a source...a god

An observer of manifestations and dreams

Dwelling outside the realms of space and time

It inhales the quintessence of life

With ancient patience

It waits to exhale

Waiting...

To inspire the breath of creation

To awaken the Wave that carries the seed

The seed of… Continue

Untitled 3

Ive had a tune in my heart

that makes my body move left to right

An excitement that hasn't been around in awhile

Words flow more freely

and that spot my mind always used to go to

when pencil hit paper is a feeling of pure euphoria

That I gladly cherish and appreciate a whole lot more

New worlds are building on the paper I'm writing

plots that I don't know about yet are being made

Amazing scenes are ready to be describe

and so are the… Continue

Where to Begin...

I was trying to think of the best way to begin introducing myself. I tossed and turned about putting up my latest work, a prologue of my novel or just blabbing a bit of myself to you. I decided to just blab for now. :D

I began loving the art of writing when I was eleven. There was a young author's contest help for the province of Alberta, long story short, I won. Myself and a few others were lucky enough to spend the day with Robert Munsch and a few other established authors. They did a… Continue

Night to Dawn Entry-I Am Prince of Blood; Linneun Vericus (It's long -.-)

All I'm gonna say is that it's more than 5000 words and on word it was 15 pages long, so...good luck :P

Linneun Vericus was none other than a prince. A prince of blood, agony, and gory pain. He was yet to be one of the ‘senior’ vampires, as his Clan called it, rather, he was a Junior vampire, one of great blood, and royal. He was the Blood Bath Prince, descendant of Dracula himself. His father, Vericus Linne Un, which is where Linneun had gotten his name, was… Continue
