Rick Robinson, Sunny Frazier, and Sparkle Abbey.

Three authors (four actually since SA is actually two collaborators) to whom I must give credit for making me think about this week’s blog. Let me explain.

Many moons ago, I met Sunny Frazier, Oak Tree Press’ acquisition editor, at the Killer Nashville conference. She was personable, open, friendly and we…

Why Managers Should Not Play Favorites

Firstly, you’re opening yourself and the company you work for to get a nasty lawsuit!

Secondly, no one is worth losing the respect of your team.

I’ve seen managers play favorites time and again, and always for the wrong reasons. I remember a person who was consistently number 1 in sales. But that was the only thing he was good at. The person treated everyone around him poorly. He never said hi to anyone, or thanked them when they helped him with his sales (and he got plenty of…

I have an important question that needs an answer

Hey all,

I am hoping someone can help me with this. It is probably easy to do but does anyone know how to delete the extra blank pages out of your manuscript. I finished all the editing and have a few pages after i decided not to add any illustrations.

Diet and Exercise Plan for Your Writing

Does your writing have that bloated, overstuffed feeling? Do you have the habit of packing in more words than needed for clear communication? Are your readers easily fatigued by your writing? Do you send out your documents without first subjecting them to rigorous and strenuous editing? Do you run out of breath when reading aloud?

If you answered “Yes” to any…

Pssst! Teaser from sequel, Memory's Curse...

Here's a bit from the sequel of Task Force: Gaea—Finding Balance. It's a work in progress, but it'll give you a taste of what's coming:

A swirling blackness, Nyx moved and shaped herself in ways that would stagger the mortal mind, collapsing into eddies of dark, living clouds, ready to bear her offspring implanted in her by Olympos’ adulterous king. With the catacombs of the dead for her nursery, Nyx wanted to bring forth her daughter in the company of the…

Paints Of Happy Colors...

By Gloria Faye Brown Bates/aka Granny Gee

Two little girls sat playing with each other.  First cousins, almost sisters, best friends.  Their future was uncertain, they clung to each other for comfort.  They didn't want to be split up.

They had heard the grown-ups talking, they knew change was in the air.  They thought they heard that one of them was going to be leaving to go... God knows…

Been away thinking....

Hello,

It has been a little while since I have been in here. Been busy with editing the second book in the trilogy  I also found that after writing the second book the title does not fit anymore so I am thinking really hard on changing it. But not sure if i can even do that since book one is already published. I don't want to confuse my readers. My Co-author told me if  we change the name now we are going to have to go back and change the first book as well. Which wouldn't be hard but…

I Knew That Dream Always Seemed So Real...

By Gloria Faye Brown Bates/aka Granny Gee

As a child I had dreams that have stuck to me to this day.  Some seemed very real, some very strange, scary.  I never forgot them.  Some dreams are from things happening to scare me as a little girl.

Not long ago, a mystery was solved for me.  I always thought about a very real dream I had since I was a child.…

Nemezia and the Wooden Sword

Hello everyone,

Sorry I haven't written, but I have been so busy trying to promote my book.  Nemezia and the Wooden Sword.  Imagine a world where imaginary friends are trained to be pirates, witches, wizards, princesses and much more before they can become someone's imaginary friend.  This story will inspire everyone to believe in magic.  I just created a face book, still working on it.  Nemezia and the Wooden Sword.  So if you wish to put in a comment or review please feel…

Time After Time...

By Gloria Faye Brown Bates/aka Granny Gee

The evening air has a nip in it.  Oh, how I love the cool evening air in the fall time.  To make it more special, I put on a nice sweather to make it feel cosier.

Next, I fill the coffeemaker with water, coffee... I'm going to make hot coffee to enjoy.  I'll take my cup outside to sit at the table on the porch.

Find It Here

"What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost."  - Luke 15:4-6…
