David Hoof "Sharpshooter"

Brilliant, yes, I just wrote brilliant. Have I caught your attention yet? “Sharpshooter” by David Hoof is an amazing novel, flat out mesmerizing from the first page to the last. His style is totally unique; his gift of prose writing phenomenal, and this novel just is one intense read. I am going out a limb here and saying that this maybe one of, if not the best novels, I have read this year. Yes, that is how strongly I feel about the work this author has turned out…

WRITERS BLOCK

One of the main reasons for writers block can be described with just one word...DISTRACTIONS! And we all have them because "life" happens. Modern convenience and technology is a catch 22 situation because along with the ease of computers, microwaves, and iphones, we have complicated our lives with bombarding our "to do" lists with so much STUFF that we refuse to slow down. So at the end of the day when the kids are bathed and put to bed, your…

Promoting a Book

I am amazed at the response I have had recently while promoting my novel Love Hurts. Although it was produced by an independent publishing company, they are only very small and therefore cannot devote too much attention to marketing any particular book. So I took the initiative and have been doing what I can on a non-existent budget.

It is actually progressing very well indeed. I have managed to secure interviews with several newspapers in the Staffordshire and South Cheshire area…

My First Book Signing Event is Imminent

It is a very exciting time for me. I will be visiting the Waterstones book store in Crewe, Cheshire this coming Saturday (17th September) to do a book signing event for my debut novel. I have no idea what to expect. The manager says that I will be given a table in the fantasy section, and from there I can greet my visitors (and hopefully I will receive direct visitors), and I can talk to new customers and try to sell them my book.

I am still struggling to decide what to wear. I… Continue

BOCCE, THE G-MAN, CHARLESTON BOCCE LEAGUE AND THE G-ZONE

I don’t know if you know this or not, but I love bocce! I love to play it and I also enjoy watching others enjoy it. Two digital short stories have poured out of my laptop and gone out into the world, published by Trestle Press called: “I Have Chrome Balls, Don’t You? And the sequel to it “Holy Chrome Bocce Balls on Fire!” To take that a bit further, wait did I just say I am going to take something further, what a surprise, let me finish… To take it a bit further I have begun forming…

Karen Anna Vogel "The Amish Knitting Circle" Volume 1

My husband said I had to do this one, he knows how much I enjoy these types of stories. Up to this point the only types of Amish stories I have been able to find were full length novels. When he told me this is a brand new short story series, I was very happy to read it. I had not heard of this author before, but she instantly won me over with her definitions in the beginning and her recipe at the end; I just loved the little touches she added.

The story in between is the best part…

Darren Sant "Flashes of Revenge"

Darren Sant is a man of many hats; he is a writer, he is a blogger (Close to The Bone), and I think he may drink rather heavily if there is any truth told on his blog. It seems he and his mates over there are always finding a reason to raise a pint or quart in someone’s or something’s honor. Understand, Darren Sant is a loyal subject of the Queen over there in merry old England. Why do I bring up that point? It gives you a little more understanding into his dark sense of humor,…

Changing Genres

As a published non-fiction author, people have "pidgeon-holed" me into a particular style and genre; which is okay. However, I am also a very multi-faceted individual who has a huge imagination, and I wanted to try my hand at something very different than what people would expect. Sticking with one type of writing is okay and "to each his own", but I feel if you're a writer, well, you can write whatever you fancy whenever…

Lisa Taylor “The Invention” Vol.1 of the “Shana Black” series

The birth of a heroine, I love it. A brand new series by Lisa Taylor that takes us into a duel world: West Point Cadet and CIA operative. The author is a graduate of West Point, so we are getting the real deal here, and she provides us with a total gung-ho attitude with Shana Black. The universe she creates is a very unique one, the plotline and narrative very fresh for this genre, and overall it is a very nice, kick-a#@ read. If you are looking for action, suspense, thrills and a can do…

Brett Battles "The Pull of Gravity"

I have to admit, I was a little surprised once I started to read this. I believe I have read everything Brett Battles has written thus far, and I must say,if you are a fan of his work, this is a departure from anything he has done. Is that bad? No, how could anything this author turns out be considered anything but excellent? He really goes deep, really deep into the heart and soul of the matter in “The Pull of Gravity”. I was really drawn to the stark honesty of his characters…

A short sci-fi erotic romance story by Chuck Keyes... Sweet Kimber Rella

Sweet Kimber Rella

A short sci-fi erotic romance story by Chuck Keyes

While toting her only pillow and blanket, Kimber crawled out her attic bedroom window onto the roof. Under her bare feet, the roof's asphalt shingles are still warm from the day's sunny rays beating down on South Texas like a raining fire. She spread out…

Don't You Forget About ME!

I have found that in this new e-book age that anything that was released a month or so ago seems out of sight out mind. I have news for you; a good read is a good read no matter the age or when it was released. Just because an author doesn’t pump something out on a monthly basis and decides to wait a few months between his or her work doesn’t mean they have fallen off a cliff or into a raging volcano.

My point is this: dig a little for your next read. Look hard, look long, and enjoy…
