Harlan Coben "Shelter"

I enjoy a good YA novel on occasion, I mean who doesn’t? It breaks things up a bit, gives a little more life to the reading week and who knows what quirky things may pop up in them. This though my friends,”Shelter”, is just a great read period; I do not care what label you wish to slap on this. I do not know how he does it, novel, after novel after novel, but Harlan Coben delivers another intense, fun read. The author says he had a blast writing this, well I had a ton of fun reading it, just…

Sam Lang “Shadow Boxing” Volume 3 of the “Reprisal” series

I’ll admit until maybe 4 or 5 months ago I was not really into the horror genre. I think my basic hang-up was the gore, the blood and guts, the over simplification of the action; basically it left nothing to my imagination, I like my imagination, sorry. I feel that a good writer no matter what genre I am reading can and should leave a little something for me to think about, a little bit unsaid, a little bit for me to consider to draw me in a bit and be a captive in his or her universe. I…

WHY DO WE WRITE?

Why do we breathe? Eat? Because we NEED to! Writing is as important to our soul as the fresh air to our lungs! Food for our bodies! The creative side of our brains require sustenance and an outlet like all of the other parts of our physical self. Some write for therapy...and I say this because I do. I get things off of my chest in a blog, or post on a website. The reason I wrote my first book was because of a desire in my… Continue

April Pohren "Welcome to the Land of Insanity"

Have you seen the cover? Do you have kids? Have you ever watched kids? Have you had a bad day and have kids? Have you just had a bad day? Okay now I think you can understand the “surreal” nature of the cover and what the story in part is about. The best part of the whole thing though is what lies inside. April Pohren is starting to stretch her legs as an author and takes a crack at a different genre this time, moving away from her amazing debut: “Dream Me to Death”. This is definitely her…

William Tooker "Black Betty" Vol.2 "Slouching Towards Bethlehem" Series

Horror anyone? William Tooker knows his horror; that is evident from the first few paragraphs of this story. “Black Betty” is the second installment of the “Slouching Towards Bethlehem” series and continues the storyline in the most gruesome way. I like to hear about when people are harvesting things, usually that is good right? You harvest crops, etc, but what are they harvesting in “Black Betty”? I don’t think it is hay and apples.

“Black Betty” delves deep into the minds and souls…

comments from the author of Poemnovel

Only through the strength and motivation that God has truly given us to write this particular novel, we have gained the strength through prayers, inspiration, and our trails and tribulations; to endured the wrath of letting go of each other.  Struggling to hold back the tears and fears of life's failures in our relationship; these spoken word and poem pieces where wrote.  From the pain that we both have endured over the years, we finely gainned the strength to let go of each other; with…

Cartoons, Hidden Decisions and Tooth Extractions

(Excerpted from The Logical Soul, publ. 2010 and available on Amazon)

My life has been the canvas on which a series of major turning points have been imprinted.  Here are a few more of the ones that led to my own hidden decisions:

Looney Tunes Strikes Again

I don’t know if it was because I had my “third eye” smacked open or what.  Until I was eleven years old, however, I believed that everyone – including myself…

Forsaken Jeffrey Martin Jr. The Author's Lab/Collaboration series

Mass murder and serial killers just seem to go together so why not have two in the same story. In fact why not have one serial killer try to bring the other to justice?  And to top it off why not make the deal sweeter by…? Wait I can’t tell you that part; it would be a spoiler. I don’t do that, sorry. Here is the deal on this installment: Jeffrey Martin has come up with an insanely great character that is, well, insane, and to boot he is a serial killer with certain tastes. I would prefer…

New blog post - Bad hair day!

When it comes to bad hair days, we've all had them.  Moreover, when it comes to the words 'follically' and 'challenged' I think I'm right in saying that images of baldness are usually what spring to mind.

Well not in my experience...

After all, despite the fact that I do, indeed, possess a wonderfully, full head of hair, I have evidence that my own follicles have been somewhat challenging of late - albeit in an abundant kind of way.

In fact, I'd even go as far as… Continue

Harry Houdinin: a Guest Post by C.E.L. Welsh

This essay appears at the end of C.E.L. Welsh's latest work, Coffeyville, a Harry Houdini Novella, and discusses the author's love for the subject matter:

“The Story Behind The Story: Coffeyville, a Harry Houdini Novella

I am a retired magician. Actually, that may be stretching things on a few technicalities; yes, I have been paid to perform magic, and thus could have been considered a pro, but my skills never eclipsed the mildly talented. It has been years since I’ve handed…

I heard you cry

Last night I heard you , but there was nothing I could do.  My dreams became over-poewered by nightmares when I tried reaching out to you.  Could s***, I hate to admit it, but I couldn't blame you if you walked away.  I'm saying when love can't prevail hearts are lead astray.   But then again, friends again, searching souls thick through thin.  When It's supposed to be over the fire is rekindled igniting a brand new start, one love and two hearts.

So I'm saying last night I…
