In desperate need of help for EPQ novel!

Greetings , all! I'm writing a book for my Extended Project Qualification and I was wondering if any of you would be so kind as to give me your opinion on an excert. This is only from the first draft, so it's not perfect. It's a steampunk adventure about a girl who runs away on a pirate airship and finds herself in all kinds of strange situations! Just so you know, if you leave a comment here it could end up in my essay and presentation, but nothing more than that.…

Adult Truth #9

#9I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.”

I know what you mean.

Last year, my taekwondo instructor and I discussed his training for his upcoming test for his 7th Degree Black Belt. He mentioned his commitment to practicing his form, a daily exercise routine, and always looking toward the goal. Only recently before that conversation I had begun a new exercise regimen to…

Around the Globe with SHERRY PARNELL

Many moons have passed since I’ve fired up the transporter for an author interview. So this cool March morning, I dust off the controls and zip over to pick up this week’s featured guest. She was a nice change from some of these pushy authors who just take control and don’t let me know where we’re going…

CONFESSIONS OF AN ACQUISITIONS EDITOR

Acquisitions Editor.

The very word conjures up visions of a crone with a pack of generic rejection notices and a paper shredder, gleefully destroying every authors' dream of publication.

Well, here's me in my comfy bathrobe, going through queries and always on the lookout for something new and exciting.

When my current publisher was backed up by the onslaught of query letters, I volunteered to lend a hand. Not that I knew anything about…

Words From F. John Surells

I've always felt that "The Same Tapes" is a very significant book.  And though you may not believe this, the fact that it was "produced" by one of our own here - that is, those of us who now live near this city's river - is not my motivating or truthful reason for that opinion.

I simply find it to be a source of solace.  But oh, don't take that incorrectly!  Certainly it's no Bible, or great…

Jane's Initial Analysis

Chapter 2

JANE’S INITIAL ANALYSIS

Written by Jane Doer

Well, the task is completed! I’ve finished typing Joe’s spoken words, needing, as you might

expect, to employ the “rewind” of the tape deck time and time again, simply because I can’t type as

fast as Joe can speak! I corrected whatever errors I found in the…

The Fall, but it's not Spring yet

Sometimes, we are faced with the inexplicable. Sometimes, things do not go as we planned.

That does not mean that there is not something better waiting on the other side.

In "An Amish Home Volume 7 – The Fall", one of those things happens.

Young Ruth and her brother venture off into the woods for some innocent and much needed play time. What happens next is almost a tragedy and Ruth receives an ominous message from the mysterious figure that some have called her…

Plot It! Part 3

I finish up Will Lavender’s seminar with the last five aspects to plotting the puzzling thriller.

  1. Play fair with the evidence. Don’t hide evidence to later be revealed as always having been there.

Don’t cheat. No baseball bat lurking in the corner that you didn’t mention in chapter 3 which shows up in chapter 23. The protagonist has to have all the evidence before the final solution. Mentioning Queen again, he did this with the readers. Before the final couple…
