The setting sun cast a chequer-board pattern across the wooden floor.  Half-seated and half hanging from the ceiling by the stout cords around her wrists that were attached to a heavy bar that ran across the ceiling she panted heavily, head down.  It seemed to her that she could pick out every knot in the wood of the floor, see every tiny crack and the dust motes made almost glorious by the sun’s dying rays.  Then the pain came again, rippling through her body causing… Continue

Writing evolution

I'm finishing up a few loose ends at the moment with some short stories that I'd like to compile into something roughly novel sized and then will begin work on my new fantasy series.  I always find this part of the writing process to be the most difficult and the most exciting.  The characters are growing in my mind, developing their own individual back stories and personalities.  The story line is building from the initial foundational concept. I haven't been here in so long... it's nice to read such welcoming responses.  I'm so busy at the moment trying to juggle a Masters degree and finish polishing my short story anthology in time for an end of July release date.  Plus I'm working on a new novel and reading my way through a huge TBR list for my thesis.  I shall endeavour to be more vigilant about dropping in :

Cheers,

Trace
