throwing 5cents in here LOL

just joined this blog thru Donnie's welcoming hand....(huge smiles)... I used to write freestyle poemy verses in my 20's...in school I wrote essays & studied American Lit, Creative Writing, Mythology & such. I even studied some Etymology & Linguistics on my own back then....then 84-86, I took a 2yr correspondence course thru the Institute for Childrens Literature, up in Redding Ridge CT, got my diploma blah blah but I never sent 7-8 short stories out into the world, being as I felt my work was not good enough compared to published authors-- tho my instructor Bryna Fireside (YES her real name LOL) insisted all along I WAS a true writer (snickers)...I've done freelance proofreading & editing for client-friends college papers back in the day, and I also used to work 4.5 yrs in the Classifieds Dept for the 7 military newspapers in MD-DC-VA (Comprint Inc) til 93.
..My Dad used to work for McGrawHill Pub Co in NYC for 27yrs, so I guess ink is in my blood LOL You can easily tell cause I can write 1000-1500 words in a heartbeat LOL.
I love most all genres, love to read AND sing--who needs sleep? LOL...I read articles online voraciously daily..more input!!!... Ok too much coffee-rambling going on, but ya all know me now (snickers)....Someone has inspired me to kick in the writing juices again, so stay posted...now back to our regulary scheduled Tuesday..... =)

Did you ever send in those short stories or would you want to now? There's always several routes to submit stories. If I know you're looking I'll make a special effort to watch out for submission calls for you. :)

No, I have never polished up those childrens' short stories & sent them out into the world... I always thought they weren't good enough (I am my worst, toughest critic being a perfectionist! LOL)... I fear that those stories being almost 20 yrs old now, the children of this day & age would scoff at them, because there's no cosmic flash in them, so to speak LOL My scribblings are thoughtful, emotional & upbeat so "maybe" an 8 yr old nowadays might even read one but who knows....they were written back then for preteen age, but the world has changed so much!...
I had my twin neices who were about 10 yrs old at the time (about 10 yrs ago) read a few of my stories, and they didn't make any comments at all, which was unusual for 2 chatterboxes, so I'm amazed I didn't torch them back then hahahahahahha ...I'm joking, I'm just amazed I kept the stories all these years... Cheap typing paper & yellow legal pad has a good shelf life LOL
....I would like to start writing again though, if nothing but to put drops of me into black on paper again. If I get very BRAVE, I can share here....BIGBIG cheesy grin! heehee
