Why FIRST ROSE is Such a Good Read...Now.

Posted on March 5, 2010 at 8:34pm 1 Comment

With all the negative things in the world, one needs to be drawn aside to focus their attention on more permanent and happy issues. I know there are those who think it nonsense to consider life after death but Jesus, the greatest teacher who ever walked the earth, promised us eternal life. He said if we believe in Him, we would have eternal life and never die. Of course He wasn't referring to the physical body. All of know we will shed this physical body when it no longer can live on earth.…

FIRST ROSE is More Than a Book

Posted on February 16, 2010 at 5:58pm 0 Comments

FIRST ROSE takes you somewhere only the imagination can travel to. However, if you have studied the Bible as I have done, you will find everything in the book to be in harmony with it. Though I (in the course of writing the book) recalled what others had told me about Heaven, I still made sure it did not conflict with what the Bible teaches. Actually the Bible is silent about much of Heaven and only gives us a glimpse into our life after this one. I think it is important when writing fictional… Continue

An exerpt from First Rose:

My heart was pounding a little faster as he came closer and closer to where we were. He was unbridled and free.

Soon he was right in front of me. He reared his front legs upward, neighed and when he brought his hooves down again, he stopped abruptly at my face. He was large and imposing. I had to look upward just to glimpse his neck.

He backed off a little, lowered his nose,… Continue

Why First Rose Needed to be Written

Posted on January 31, 2010 at 3:20pm 0 Comments

It has been my experience through the years as an ordained minister that people recoil from expressing what they think the "after life" may contain. Since the Bible has given only "the Ezekiel bones" of eternal life and its content, it is up to us who want to know to facilitate the flesh, sinew and body of it. The Holy Spirit is present in each believer's life to reveal "things to come" and "the kingdom of God" to seekers. Our thoughts,… Continue

First of all I do not get online much. My husband has the "computer watch" and only respond when he brings it to my attention. lol I am delighted to meet other authors. I have been in the artist circles so long, I have almost forgotten how to be social. However, with First Rose I have drawn interest from demographics that otherwise I would not. Thanks for your encouraging reply.

I am glad to have had a request by you as we may be able to be an inspiration to each other. I write poems, in fact I have just completed my first novel of poetry. The toughest part is to get a publisher. I do look forward to futureconversation, have a wonderful day.

Hi Mary, thanks for the invite. Your book sounds fascinating, and I think your timing was excellent--perhaps God-intentioned is a better word. I'm working on a project right now and I would like to get some input, if you get a chance, concerning your ordination. I look forward to getting to know you. Charles

As another thought just popped in, Mary. . .
You have the substance of a query letter to an agent encapsulated in your last post. When you finish the manuscript, I would highly suggest that you re-read this post.
I will be glad to be of assistance.
Best,
M.

I am convinced that very good books, well written...sell. If my book doesn't sell a reasonable amount of copies, I will rewrite my sequel, lol. However, I hate rewriting. But that is life! At the age of 70 I will still plug along until my writing equals my art. Try, try, try again I say until life rewards you!
