    Hey Kay.

Let's see if we can find a group dynamic and start a regular chat that is both informative and fun. Let's get it out there and see what time(s) are the best for folks to all get together and share that glass of merlot or a cup of joe and network.
    My best,
    M.

  • Robert L. Bacon

You asked a wonderful question. As I mentioned in the article's opening, I certainly don't know when the famous authors I listed use editors, only that they do. But so did Theodore Bernstein, who, while deceased for quite a while now, was a long-time editorial consultant for the New York Times. Mr. Bernstein was considered to be a true genius when it came to prose, yet in the acknowledgment page of his books on grammar, he proudly cites the editors who assisted him.

But to address your question as directly as I can, for the unpublished writer who is at the nascent stage of his or her effort, I like to see that person's storyboard and the first half-dozen or so pages of the draft as soon as the writer is comfortable sending them. From this I can generally tell if the individual possesses creative writing ability and how well planned (via the storyboard) the story happens to be. Most editors I know, including myself, do not charge for this service, and this early "look" during the novel's seminal stage can often prevent a budding author from making some egregious errors that require a lot more time to correct later.

And while rudimentary areas can be reviewed, even more complex structural elements such as pacing, transitioning, characterizations, and character development can often be ascertained by parsing a few pages of opening material--along with determining the overall readability of the prose. Consequently, I have to think it's best to look at material as early as possible so any problems can be recognized and corrected right away, the same as a doctor would advise a patient if potentially perilous symptoms were diagnosed.

    Thanks for a great question!
  • Bruna Britti

Ohhhh, thank you so much! Oh... really good that you said me about "Hermione Granger", first of all, I had written this short history for a Harry Potter's site. When I put here I think I forgot to change this part. So, thank you to remember me! hehe!

Wayanne. Stopped using Rae after I was no longer shel shocked from national headline case.
Write Non Fiction based on true stories of mothers who fight for their children. Song writing since I can remember. Poetry in my sleep. LOL.

I do have 2 manuscripts out right now on Myspace titled; Meet The Picture Not The Person. 2 Years study of those who prey on innocients people or just adult bullies that love to dish gossip and ruin people relationships and such.

The othet is in the works and I am not disclosing as of yet. If that check comes in then I will talk when it's published.

Will be posted a poem I wrote in 1992 Upon My Hill next night I have insomnia. You can view my work by searching face book "Wayanne Kruger 288a Reform"

I shall look at your site ands check you out. Always interested in new ideas.

I have got back into writing childrens stories, which I love. But, I have not had the time to put it out there. Busy working on my causes.

  • Ernest Lijoi

Hi everyone, My name is Ernie Lijoi Sr. (On Facebook Ernesto lijoi). I do not consider myself a writer, however I do, call myself a story teller, ture stories. I have one books published, "Street Business", a second coming out in June "Shoveling the Tide" and a third due out sometime in Dec. "Chasing Snow" and there are four more sitting on my desk completed, all of the books are based on Fact however doen with a fictional lean . My agent recomends that I do not send them in at this time. My current publisher is Comfort publishing, very nice people and their site is comfortpublishing.com,My books are on Amazon and other books sellers on line. My site is http://www.erniesr.com

That you for your warm invitation. Well my book is about me and my life struggles.
It tells how I over came situations through childhood until now. My goal is to show people that they don't have to stay in the istuation that they are in that if you let go and let God the things will work our for them.
  • Wayanne Kruger aka Rae E Klein

Thanks all. My penname is Rae. How I hit the letter "k" is beyond me. It's not even close to the "R" unless I wrote a comment on my iphone. I am about ready to trade that in for the new Skide because it keeps going "turkish" on me. Why not a different language like French or German?
I think my largest hurdle is editing. Grammer is not much of a problem now that I got a publishing program but in the end I still have to hire an editor to get another perpective.

Thanks for all the welcomes to the site. At this moment by plate is pretty full but I found out that humorios blogs on subject that really bother me takes the edge of of a perfectly beautiful day.

My number one quam is I am a national advocate and I've already led a very private family life. I do not have time to meet new friend outside of my work. I do not get close with anyone on social networking sites the # 1 reason I wrote "Meet The Picture Not The Person" and a script a friend and I are putting together based on the book. Is difficult to be close to anyone in my line of work and its hard for others to approach me. I get a ton of emaiks and most of it is abiut a case I am on. But here is the problem. I am a non fiction writer. Many people will private me to write a book on a specific case that is National, yet behind your back when they think someone does not send me anything or say anything abiut me which is easily tracked by RSS feed,
  • Wayanne Kruger aka Rae E Klein

They say, "she is just in it for me the money." Has anyone ever really looked at the salary as a author? Not a novelest such as Stephem King or John G. Just your average author? I woud made far more money had I got my licence as a PhD. I only got my diploma to understand abused victim and domestic violence, that i still have a cramatic part of e that I cannot relate too. Men beating on a woman, but thats here nor there. Has anyone here ever been anble to live i year off a book published without worring no emergency money needed will pop up and yor one your last 2 grand in your account?

I am writng on national headline case but my lips are sealed on it. The Jerry Springer like garbage intwined around another sad case or cases of another child murdered. There have been so any cases in 2 years I thought I would do the 6 most crushing stories America cannot get enough of.

It'sike OJ over and over, day in and day out. Any suggestions? PS: Is anyone else havinga problem seeing wat they write. THE COMMNT BOX KEEPS JUMPING ON ME.
  • Wayanne Kruger aka Rae E Klein

Life At Random is a collection of random topics about life. It's about standing up when life knocks you down, being who you want to be instead of who you think you have to be, and setting your mind free from the traps of fear and negativity. It's about caring and loving. It's about living your life with a purpose and living up to your full potential. It's about me, you, everyone. Never give up on life's challenges.
This book is a big accomplishment for me. I am planning to use at least 10 percent of what I make to help others. My purpose is to help people to understand that we are all in control of our own lives…no matter what the situation is. I have hard times, just like everyone else, but I can remain positive because I know who I am and what I am capable of. We all have the ability to be great and to do something that can help to change the world. There is greatness in each and every one of us just waiting to be unleashed. We just have to take the time to discover who we really are.
Whatever you want to do in your life, you can do it. Don’t let fear grip your heart and don’t let negativity rule your mind. Don’t set limits for yourself…let your mind be free to experience all of the wonders of life. Whatever happens, just learn from it and create something positive. Your Happiness is a choice and only you can make the decision to be happy. You deserve to be happy and nothing should stop you from feeling good and feeling good about yourself.
  • thernell johnson

And I also try to give advice about online businesses that claim they can help you make money.
  • thernell johnson

This is a very big accomplishment for me because of ADHD. I find it very hard to focus on any one thing for long and it is very hard to sit still. I might have drifted off my topics here and there but I hope my messages get through to help at least one person. I was determined to write it and I did it.
  • JenniferAprilDC

I have read many books in which right now i can't remmember all of them, but i ran into a book in the library called "Sneaky People" I don't know if u might of heard about it. I love to read, I like non-fiction best and descriptive writing, but i have never really wrote anything, I like some fiction, some mysteries, such as Edna Buchanan, "The Corpse Had a Familiar Face" I learned a lot about Miami and its streets by name.

    Hi Kay,
I was intrigued by your video of Terry Pratchett. By coincidence, I am enrolled in a Children's Literature course and Terry Pratchett was on our reading list with his book, The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents. I'd never come across Pratchett's work before now, and I'm not sure why. I'm a great lover of Children's Literature, and he is quite an author. I'm happy to know his works now. Thank you for sharing this snippet with me.

Thank you all for welcoming me. I have been more of an essay writer until now. I've won a couple of minor essay contest (one in college and one sponsored by the Detroit Public Library and Wayne State University), but now my focus is primarily on children's literature - young adult and middle grades. I say children's literature, but I will throw in an adult short story from time to time.

I'm sincere about learning the craft and I'm seeking all the advice I can get. I have a real tough skin and welcome the red pencils (you can't learn the game unless you're willing to play the game).

In case you're wondering, about my none picture and what it represents - I'm rolling the dice, I'm a night owl hence the blue light, and hopefully everything will come up green, even though the story is the thing.
  • Sondra Tobias

    Thanks for the welcome.
No I haven't read "U" yet. I usually wait until it is in paperback. Retired and on a budget.
