I just read the most amazing novel! It's not by an Indie writer, but she is amazing and I can't wait for her sequel. it is A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness. She encapsulates everything I like about vampires and witches, and she even throws demons into the mix. The only thing missing was were animals, but you never know...!

I am a senior in high school and my very first book called Innocent Destruction is will be in stores late June. My book takes place in 1836. In this book a family called the Snomed's (Demons spelled backwards) comes into this town called Dercas (Sacred spelled backwards) and takes over this girl named Isabelle. Isabelle falls for one of the Snomed family members named Damien and he makes her murder the people in her village. The deaths are very horrid. Isabelle becomes her own monster when she gives in to Damien and starts killing for fun. Here is a part of chapter one. I hope you enjoy. :)

As our eyes met I knew that we would be together forever. Something was rather mysterious and intriguing about you, which I could never figure out what it was. But then I knew… and I was lost forever.

It was a beautiful sunny day in April of 1836 in Dercas, Pennsylvania. The leaves were regaining life on the trees; the birds were singing their morning songs, everything was so peaceful. “Nothing interesting ever happens in Dercas,” I said to myself as I was sitting by the creek. “When is life going to change?”

As I walked back to the village I noticed everyone crowded around some new comers to town. I didn’t really care as to who came to our village as long as everything was kept at peace. The villagers slowly started walking away one by one from the new people who had just come to Dercas. I quickly got a glimpse of the family who had just set out a new beginning in Dercas. They were the typical family of course; their names were the Snomed’s.

I went to turn around to walk away from the new family and then. “Hello” said a mysterious man. “My name is Damien.” “Isabelle” I said with a smile. “Are you part of the family who just entered Dercas?” I asked. “ Yes,” said Damien who had a very gleaming look in his eyes. Damien was about the age of twenty-three when he came to the village. He was tall with dark brown hair and very muscular. Everyone from the village liked him. The women would go crazy over him and the men would try to become him. He had such the charm that no matter who it was they would listen and believe every word that he had spoken.

Years went on and the Snomed family was the villagers ‘go to family’. If anything were to be done, everyone would look to the Snomed family for permission. They had become the most powerful family to have ever entered Dercas. Even Mayor Jacobs had little power over the village since they have arrived.

As I was walking to the Jacobs house to watch Mayor Thomas and Emily’s children Andrew who was five and Gabriel who was a newborn, I noticed Damien watching me. I didn’t really care about Damien; well at least I tried to make it look that way. I felt like nothing that I ever had before. I felt like I could fly, nothing else matter to me but him. I knew that I wanted to be with him, maybe forever.

Damien and I had become greatly fond of each other. We’d spend everyday together having a picnic down by the creek. Today was different though. It was October of 1837; the leaves were falling off the trees and a big gust of wind came rushing past us. Damien looked at me with a demonized look on his face. “Isabelle” he said. “Yes?” I replied frighteningly. My mind went crazed; I didn’t know what to think. “From the moment I met you I knew that you noticed something quite indifferent about me. Do you cherish your life?”, he asked. “ How about your family? Do you really cherish them? WELL TELL ME!” he screamed. “Yes, yes you know I do. Why are you acting this way, you’re scaring me?” I said. “Haven’t you noticed the significance of my last name?” said Damien. Everything was falling into play. Snomed is demons spelled backwards. Damien and his family made sure that everyone in the village would like them so they could have all the power of what goes on. I got up and hastily tried to run away, but it was no use. Damien was right after me and tackled me to the ground. I was screaming at the top of my lungs and crying. “LET ME GO!” I yelled. “No one can hear you Isabelle,” said Damien. I was trapped. I had nowhere to go. And there was no one to help me.

As Damien’s plan was falling into play I had no idea what to do. If I didn’t obey, my family and my own life would be in jeopardy. I then began contemplating on what to do. As I was kicking and screaming Damien began telling me about the horrible things that he and his family have done in their past lives.

“Mayor Jacobs needs to die,” he said. “ It needs to be a slow but very painful death.” I was fighting with all of my power and screaming as loud as I possibly could. He began shaking me. He shook me so much that he was bashing my head off the ground. He whispered in my ear ever so softly. “Want to see what your life would be like if you didn’t obey my every word?” I went silent for once. “Now gaze into my eyes,” he said. I was resisting.

Damien had summoned his brother Sebastian which as soon as he yelled “Sebastian” he was right there beside him. “Hold her head down while I gaze into her eyes,” Damien said. Screaming with terror I didn’t know what was going to happen.

As I was forced to gaze into his eyes, I saw a bright red sky. It started to rain, but the rain wasn’t water… it was blood. The villager’s houses were all up in flames, animals wailing in apprehension as they were stuck in the burning barns. People were running around in terror, as their scorching flesh was being burned alive. Babies were screaming as they are left alone to fend for themselves in the fiery houses. Graves were all dug up and the tombstones were destroyed.

Half black and half red creatures crowded the church. The creatures had horns, wings and tails. They started smashing and burning down the church. The main creature was beating and mauling Pastor Jeremiah Adams. The creatures were chasing the people who managed to escape from the dreadful fire and began to maul their flesh and bones. Not one body part was left for the vultures to feed.

The creatures were drinking every last drop of blood and dancing around the massive fire at the church. One of the creatures came up to me and said, “This is your doing... see what happens when you don’t obey?” At that moment I knew that it was Damien. When I realized that it was him everything had stopped.

Everything had gone back to normal. I was laying in the grass by myself now. Damien and Sebastian were nowhere in sight. My vision was quite blurry though, I reached to touch my eyes and when I did my hands were filled with pools of blood.

When I saw the blood I screamed and someone finally came to my rescue. “What’s wrong?” Zachariah said. “It’s… its Damien, he is scheming a plan to kill off everyone in our village and he wants me to do it.” Just as I assumed no one would believe me. Zachariah just looked at me as I was demented.

Days have passed and still no one would believe me. I would try to convince everyone about Damien and his family but my actions only came with consequences. I was now locked up and under close watch.

Everyone in the village carried on with their lives and obeyed the Snomed’s. About a long and dreadful month later I was released.

wow, seriously? I wasn't trying to self promote. It took me 4 1/2 years to get my own book published, so I feel for the un-published author, which is the reason that I want to do spotlights. I swear, only in America do people think that someone can't just help because they want to and it makes them feel good to do it.

I'll delete them and this acct. I just feel bad for the people who wanted to be. If you already contacted me about a guest spot, no worries ur on anyway.

Alie out!
