THE REASONS FOR MY INSOMNIA/ OR AN ODE TO SLEEPLESSNESS



I don’t know why I can’t sleep
Without thinking of everything
That has and will happen
If I don’t join the change of
The motion


I don’t know why I dream
Brief of things that
Have and haven’t yet happened
And think awake the lack
Of absolutes

When I wake from small sleep
I remember the day before
And other days
And I think to myself
Not awake

Not awake is the dream
The dream that fulfills sleepless
Destiny and draws forth
A state of incandescence
in a dark
Selfless void.

That was really good Mark! :) I know just how you feel. Most nights I have lots of trouble getting to sleep, just thinking of everything and nothing at the same time XD

The Oak Tree

Oh, giant tree,
Please tell me
of the past that was once
your future.
As you stand
I think of the demand
that mankind has placed
upon you.

Oh, giant oak,
lest we forget
how many seasons you've seen.
Let us be reminded
by those of your kind
of where we have been.

Here's a poem I litterally just wrote; hope you guys don't mind me posting it here in the comments XD
If Love Were Easy

If love were simple
If love were easy
Then you’d never learn your lesson
Love with all your heart
And never look back
On the bad memories
There's already too much pain
If love were simple
If love didn't break your heart
You might wonder why love at all
Those separations
Those heart aches
They are what make us see
What love can really be
And what it should never be
We learn to enjoy love while it's here
And move on when it's not
If love were simple
If love were everywhere
Than we could never see its true beauty
We'd never see how much better
It is than living without
If love were simple
If love were easy
We'd never really feel it
And it would just disappear
This doesn't make our aches fade
But perhaps it will let us look
To the future
Which might be brighter
Than anything we can imagine;
Hope and pray for love
But be not afraid when it ends
You might love again

Hey Pink!
I absolutely love it. It is so true that love can be work. I've been married for 16 years, and there have been testy times. But one must believe in the power and in the impact of love.
Even something as simple as the love an animal. My dog, who has just passed the seventy-seven year mark, in dog years. I hate the idea of losing my best furry friend, but it is inevitable.
There is an expression in French: "Tout lasse, Toute casse, Toute passe." It translates as "Everything pales, everything palters, everything fails." But intwined inside of this is the underlying understanding that life is ephemeral, precious, and fragile.
Your work is strong. Keep it up.

Thanks Mark! :D I'm so glad you like it! And I'm so sorry about your dog..., I have a five year old Bassett; I don't think I'd know what to do if he died(which I know he will, someday, but thankfully not soon), he's my baby. :)
I like that saying, it's very true.
