There's several ways to self-publish, Anna. Just don't get ripped off in the process. Always Google the name of any company you're thinking of dealing with before you sign up with them and read what's being said about them by people that are already using them. Consider the POD options as well.

The absolutewrite forum, which is highly respected and long established in writing circles, has a section called Bewares and Background Checks. Look there before you leap.

Thanks Kay. I have P&E and a couple other places I check. Don't worry, I seldom jump too far before I ask around.

Help! I have two novels published, but this will be my first book launch & party. Should I treat the event like a regular book event, talk about the book and read excerpts, or should I just mingle and autograph copies of the book? Any Suggestions?

No idea.  I think you should be prepared to sign or sell or both, but mostly I think you should just mingle.  At a party, people are there to see and get to know you.  I'm sure they will ask plenty of questions, and they may even make some sort of request.  Above all, relax and enjoy your party.  Congratulations, by the way.  I'd like to hear how it went.  I may try to do the same some day.

Hello everyone, my name is alie.

I noticed the heading and wanted to join. However, I would like to ask the question to you guys out there; why is it sooo fricken hard to market you book once your published lol. I mean my publishing did strenious marketing the first two weeks, but after that I was pretty much on my own. And now I'm running out os ideas, and the sales are still low? Anyone got any good ideas out there? lol.

Hi Alexandria

You ask an impossible question that could fill a whole library in answers. The truth is, there are a lot of us trying to do the same thing and without extensive marketing approach it is always going to be tough. A bit of luck and a lot of hard work is the answer from what I can see.

Network and indulge every opening you can.

Well, I suppose you could consider your book one drop in the ocean of books out there and available to readers. The fact that you got 2 weeks of advertising by your publisher puts you way ahead of me in the advertising department. All you can do is strive to keep it on the surface. Remind people every day that it's out there. That's what I do.

Alexandria,

Promotion can be a24/7 deal but, it is worth it once the checks start coming in.  Do not give up-stay strong.  I've began looking at how the mom&pop stores in my area advertise and then I copy it - so, now I am doing bizcard size ref. magnets with my bookcover & my author website address. The good thing that came out of this is that I'll be doing a new higher resoultion pic of my cover. Try everything & whatever works best use it over & over again. This is a great place to get and share idea.
