I have got stuck into something and then begun to drift from where it began, yes. My remedy is usually to leave it for a day or two, sometimes even a week, before returning to the MS. I take long walks by the canal and call on my Muse to assist with the problem. That usually refreshes me and we can carry on. Hope this helps!

Oh sure. You might want to shelve it for a while and take up another idea. Or just give it some time to simmer. I've done both. I've also, frequently gone back to the beginning and just read it through. There's always room for a tweak or two here and there. Who knows, you might find where you took a wrong turn. That's usually what has happened - you turned right somewhere and got lost when you should have turned left, in a writerly way of speaking.

In the past I had a habit to put the text aside while the things cleared up in my mind and even I had started a new book. Now if I am not sure where the story leads me, I concentrate on promotions of my published books before going on with writing. I hope it helps.

So far that has not happened to me bu I dont have a set story line. I let the story led me in the direction it wants to go and so far Iv'e been lucky in that reguard. I have a very creative mind I can begin to write, stop in the middle of a paragraph go do something else for a while and come back to finish it my plot. I can see my scenes as I write them which helps. And the book I am working on now is in three book series even though I am still working on number 2. I can already see parts of how number 3 is going to go. If by some chance my mind is to overloaded to write I wont work on it until it is clear enough. usually music helps me. But i also listen to music while writing. I would suggest leaving it for a week or so and then go back and read it from the beginning. Good luck writing can be somewhat difficult!!

Thank you to all...I did work it out and it's great. More or less I've written the book and now I am filling in the spaces. It's at 30,000 words and I need another 50,000 to try and get it published. And yes, I did have to walk away from it for a day. I didn't want too, but it worked out...

Happy to know that you fixed it. Sometimes you must put things away in order to get a clearer view. You know the old saying sometimes you cant see the forest through the trees.. that applies to writing more then you know.. Good lUck!

Just wanted to do an update. Took my lapptop into Best Buys to the Geek squad and had them look at it. They didn't find anything out of the ordinary as to why my computer crashes. They thought maybe when I tried the trial of the new word that it might not have downloaded right and that could be the answer. I upgraded to the 2010 version of word and since then my computer runs normal no more trying more then once to get into my word. It opens on the first click!  As long as I can write my manuscripts I'm a happy camper.

Good news. Glad to hear things worked out so well. Happy writing

wow, seriously? I wasn't trying to self promote. It took me 4 1/2 years to get my own book published, so I feel for the un-published author, which is the reason that I want to do spotlights. I swear, only in America do people think that someone can't just help because they want to and it makes them feel good to do it.

I'll delete them and this acct. I just feel bad for the people who wanted to be. If you already contacted me about a guest spot, no worries ur on anyway.

Alie out!
