I think a Chapter Forum would be a great idea!  Then people could read a chapter and comment on it.   I will find the suggestion thread and put that up as a suggestion.

Buster, repetitious, repetitious, repetitious! I liked your work. I read page seven. The beginning was repeating too much of the same thing. And I believe there were too many characters. But it held my interest.

dear all,

As per our discussions, I just started a new discussion titled "share the first chapter of your book with the authors.com community", so that we can find all info in one place. Amy, i invite you to repost your first chapter in this discussion, along with anyone else who would like to share his work with the rest of the community. I think this is a great idea to get a chance to read each other's work and appreciate it!

Robert, I have heard from a lot of people about my throwing a lot of characters out there in the Prologue, but there was a method to my madness.  At the beginning, I only introduced the gods, and I wanted to drill it into the readers' heads as to who they were and what they were about, so I wouldn't have to do much of it later in the book.  Once the story got going in Chapter 1, I was told by those same people that it flowed smoothly.  That all said, the Prologue was merely the back story.  The main part of the story deals mainly with the mortal characters, which are not as many.  Thanks for the critique, though.  Constructive criticism is never bad.  I'm taking it all in as I work on my next book, which is a sequel to my first.

What is the length of your books (word count)?
Comment by Buster LaFrance on August 27, 2011 at 7:06pm

"Dark Vengeance" is about 95000 words.

GG - I tried a couple times to get your site - but it does not work. Can you try to post the link again?  It might be be because of the crazy storm we had and the server is down.
