Does anyone in this group review books or just advertise their own?
I review books, Michael. I also provide pre-publication ms review. This is done privately through my website ("contact me") or through Authorsden.com. There are a list of services through Authorsden that are available. You may want to take a look at that site to get an idea of what is available to you.
Best to you!
Marti
I also recommend AuthorsDen as a source for services available to authors. As former Director for Kirkus Reviews and Kirkus Discoveries, I can claim from experience that reviews are an essential piece of any book marketing program.
You never want to be the only one saying your book is great. Be sure to obtain objective, unbiased book reviews, either from literary peers or professional services such as Kirkus, Foreword/Clarion, Blue Ink, etc.
Another thing to keep in mind about book reviews is that even if/when not glowing from beginning to end, most reviews can still be used to the author's advantage. Many authors cast reviews aside when they include anything less than flattering. This is a mistake. I have helped countless authors pull useful pieces from reviews they would otherwise have stuck in a drawer.
While there are never guarantees of a positive review (and shouldn't be, at least not from a credible source), that is precisely why they count.
If you'd like help with selecting book review services or how to use reviews you've already obtained, feel free to reach me. I can work with you on book reviews, how/where to get them and how to make them work for you.
Author Connections, LLC provides professional editing, advertising material and custom, integrated marketing plans for authors. Our goal is effective book promotion for talents and titles that deserve to shine.

Write on.
Is there anyone other than myself, who would be willling to exchange book reviews? I'll read your book and post a review, if you are willing to do the same. Brutal honesty is what I'm looking for.
